The Director of Finance plays a lead role in ensuring the fiscal integrity and vitality of the organization. S/he monitors and forecasts global financial data to identify critical issues for senior management, ensures a sound internal control environment, manages outsourced financial functions, and facilitates strong relationships among finance staff globally. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership 

Team leader of headquarters finance team 

Build capacity of and provide input to performance reviews of finance officers in 11 program countries 

Coordinate with team that oversees project funding across all 22 countries 

Financial Analysis 

Analyze financial trends and drivers, both on cost and revenue sides 

Develop key indicators for organizational financial health 

Collect indicator data and present clearly in dashboards 

Present scenarios, options and recommendations to management 

Project Management 

Develop internal calendars and processes to ensure flow of financial information globally and the timely production of financial and management reports 

Manage outsourced finance functions 

Manage annual consolidated audit process 

Develop and maintain financial platforms 

Manage banking, credit card and otherfinancial services relationships 

Financial Planning 

Budget 

Build annual headquarters budget, facilitate timely program country budget development 

Synthesize budgets for board approval, develop re-forecasts for periodic board review 

Track headquarters costs and time allocations to restricted funding sources 

Work withbudget managers to identify issues and opportunities during regular budget vs. actual reviews 

Cash Flow 

Develop, monitor and trouble-shoot global monthly cash flow 

Implement cash management procedures, including coordination of global transfers and use of lines of credit as appropriate 

Manage impacts of foreign exchange and inflation, implement strategies to manage risks 

Operating Reserves 

Monitor operating reserve levels and carry out strategies for building reserves as needed 

Internal Control 

Manage a control environment in accordance with recognized International NGO standards 

Update and maintain global financial policies, procedures and manuals 

Review country policies, procedures and manuals to ensure alignment with Global

Develop internal audit function
