The Director of Finance/Creative Services will be responsible for bringing the specialized financial expertise to creative services and agency operations at The Times, which includes T Brand Studios, Fake Love, HelloSociety, and Agency Services. This role will report to the VP of Advertising Finance and work with senior management in driving financial performance in the creative services organization. In addition, this role will have oversight of ongoing financial operations, including processes which include billing, pricing, reporting, and financial analysis.
It is essential that the candidate has the ability to develop strong relationships with leadership and work with colleagues in the Advertising Sales Department. The candidate also must have the ability to identify, investigate, analyze, and communicate the risks and issues impacting the financials as well as maximize margin.
Ensure timely, accurate and complete accounting and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and Company policies with particular emphasis on strong internal controls.
Provide financial guidance and strategic perspective on decision making to advertising and creative services senior leadership.
Streamline financial processes for greater efficiency by automating and implementing project tracking and other appropriate systems.
Responsible for financial operations on creative services including overseeing monthly close and budgeting as well as forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
Creating new financial models specific to the creative services industry.
Collaborate with the Finance team on centralized financial processes while supervising the creative services accounting function.
Partner with Project Managers in evaluating major deal terms and profitability.
Focus on providing accurate and timely reporting highlighting deal profitability and resource utilization.
Develop ad hoc financial reports for senior management and Finance.
Assume a leadership role in establishing, implementing and monitoring company policies within the Creative Services businesses.
Solid accounting background, Accounting degree or CPA preferred.
8-12 years of financial experience.
At least 8 experience in the financial aspects of ad agency services or creative service operations is required.
Robust analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with the ability to interpret and synthesize financial data and present in an accurate, concise, digestible and actionable manner.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle simultaneous requests and competing priorities in an effective manner.
Strong understanding of the digital media industry.
