Bay Colony Search has been retained to hire a Director of Finance & Administration for a client headquartered in Portland, ME with two manufacturing facilities. The consumer products company was founded over 20 years ago and is growing.

Job Summary:

The Director of Finance & Administration is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the Company in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and will provide executive leadership for the Company by working with the senior management team to design plans, policies, strategies, and long term goals

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the month end close functions of the company by preparing and reviewing journal entries and performing and reviewing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and maintain annual budgets and multi-year forecast and perform analysis of budget/forecast variances and financial trends
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance withGAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and taxreporting
  • Monitor financial covenants of in debt agreements, prepare quarterly compliance reports, and maintain current lender relationships
  • Assist with daily cash activities and capital distributions
  • Manage annual financialaudit which includes developing auditschedule, ensuring required documentation is prepared in a timely manner, and interacting with the auditors
  • Evaluate potential acquisitions and assist with integration
  • Present financials to Board on a quarterly basis
  • Manage and mentor Accountants in two locations
  • Partner withother leaders in the business to develop and implement process improvements and new technologies to create a more efficient Accounting department
  • Occasional travel as necessary to otherlocations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree mandatory and Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPAdesired
  • 10+ years of accounting and financeexperiencewith successful career progression to a supervisory role
  • Prior experience working for a company with multiple locations
  • Experience working for a manufacturer required; one that sells to retailers preferred
  • Must have previous success in a high growth environment; ideally with a private equity backed business
  • Proven track record in assessing and executing buy-side deals desired
  • Superior communication skills
  • ERP experience and strong Excel skills
