This position is responsible to lead and supervise the Maintenance, Housekeeping/Janitorial, Front Desk and Materials Management functions within the Support Services Department in accordance with the organization's Mission and Core Values, utilizing Person-Centered Practices. This position also serves as the Environmental Safety Director as well as Building Security.

DIRECT REPORTS include Maintenance Manager, Purchasing Specialists, Stock Clerk, Maintenance Administrative Assistant, Front Desk Staff, Housekeepers and Janitors for Children's Services


Manage day-to-day activities of Safety, Materials Management, Maintenance, Front Desk and Housekeeping/Janitorial:

• Create, direct, and review Safety Policies in accordance with federal and state regulations and all accrediting agencies

• Develop, implement and monitor safety programs and initiatives to minimize hazards and provide safe facilities and environment for people supported, volunteers, staff, and visitors

• Chair of the Safety and Security Teams, Incident Command Team, member of EOC team, and Chair of Factor 6 for Basic Assurances

• Work with the South Dakota Department of Health Region 3 Disaster Preparedness Team in order to be compliant in all aspects of Federal and State regulations

• Oversee all policies within the realm of Disaster Preparedness

• Ensure compliance, schedules, conducts, monitors, and creates drills necessary for emergencies, Disaster Preparedness and all other governing agencies

• Ensure the security of all LifeScape locations

• Provide contract negotiations for Purchasing, construction projects, lease agreements, and service contracts

• Provide direction and leadership for the Purchasing Department to include product research, product selection, inventory management, receiving and distribution

• Provide Request for Proposals (RFP's) as directed by policy

• Oversee centralized purchasing, ensuring purchasing policies are followed, and product standardization

• Provide direction to Housekeepers, and Janitors regarding infection control cleaning practices and all aspects of operations

• Provide support and leadership to Maintenance staff regarding plant operations, compliance, and repairs|

• Oversee scheduling all inspections pertaining to all facilities and equipment needed to obtain certifications necessary for all LifeScape facilities

• Oversee the day to day operation of the Front Desk and Mailroom for 26th Street location

• Prepare annual operating budget for areas of responsibility along with capital budget to include vehicles, projects, replacements and repairs

• Work directly with property management company for homes owned by LifeScape which are rented to the general public

• Oversee all aspects of insurance for general liability, vehicles and facilities

• Completes other duties as assigned

Supervise and coach direct reports:

• Set performance standards and goals; Monitors, evaluates and provides performance feedback to all direct reports

• Conduct performance reviews of direct reports

• Monitor Maintenance performance via Maintenance Benchmark System

• Hire new staff as needed

• Ensure orientation and training of staff

• Determine and monitors work schedules; Approve schedule exceptions and payroll data as required

• Ensure quality and service standards are met

• Ensure all deadlines are met

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, etc. Extended and unusual hours from time to time; must be available as needed.

Required Skills


• Proven leadership and supervisory skills

• Must be certified in ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 or be willing to test for these certifications

Required Experience


Bachelor's degree in related field required or equivalent combination of experience and education. Three to five years leadership level experience in maintenance, materials management/purchasing, environmental safety and disaster preparedness required or a combination thereof.
