Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains and supervises event services staff, to include event operations and event setup and maintenance.
  • Ensures successful event coordination activities by supervising and training Event Managers. Plans, organizes and assigns all day-to-day work assignments for event coordination.
  • Coordinates the Operations activities with other departments and event related contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.
  • Develops, implements, and reviews a comprehensive program for coordination of facility users' event requirements, including pre-event planning, event management and post-event review.
  • Oversees and manages all event related services provided by the Center and ensures coordination and interaction of all event services operating within the facility with Center staff.
  • Prepares Event Services departmental and estimated revenues.
  • Works with internal service partners to provide quality service to customers.
  • Serves as liaison for all facility clients to ensure highest level of customer service for all external service providers.
  • Manages meetings, tradeshows, conventions and conferences contracted at the facility.
  • Prepares reports of monthly event activities for submission to the General Manager.
  • Development, implementation, administration, and review of an accurate event records management system relating to all phases of event planning and operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA degree in industry-related discipline.
  • At least five years of event management experience in public assembly facility or related venue.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the theatrical, convention, and trade shows industries and their requirements.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience in industry-related position.

  • Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic.
  • Ability to work schedule to coincide with events.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and be internet proficient.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises Event Managers and Operations Manager in the Event Services Department, as well as their staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Spectra’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
