While celebrating our 30+ years of developing award-winning original programming and features (Game of Thrones, True Blood, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Girls, Westworld, etc.), we are also dedicated to embracing and expanding our leadership in the digital space. HBO is exploring new avenues of interactive media, through multiple platforms, devices, and paradigms – ranging from the evolutionary to the experimental.


You will be responsible for driving engineering projects and teams comprised of senior and principal level subject matter experts as they relate to interactive entertainment. You must have a strong coding background and be able to navigate within an ambiguous environment across high-performance engineering and product development teams. You will be negotiating with senior management on sensitive time, budget and software functionality trade-offs. You will be collaborating across Digital Products, Digital and Social Media, Original Programming, and external studios to guide and direct the evolution of the best interactive and immersive experiences in the industry. 


  • 15+ years of work with creative software product development over 4+ product releases
  • 5+ years of hands-on professional coding experience in a team environment
  • 5+ years of technical management experience with the proven ability to establish and foster high-quality and effective engineering teams and practices
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, C#, and/or Objective-C
  • Experience developing for consumer devices such as game consoles and tablets
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or custom real-time rendering engines
  • Experience in contributing to strategic plans and executing against them
  • Highly effective communicator (both verbal and written) with the ability to partner and engage technical and non-technical teams
  • Deep interest and experience with game development, tools development, performance tuning, and HCI
  • Passion for career management; training, developing, and leading teams


  • Track record of successful liaison with AAA Game studios
  • Experience developing innovative distribution technology
