The Director of Engineering, Distribution directs and manages the DistributionEngineering and Training Departments. Manages improvement and expansion initiatives from conceptualization, development, and implementation of new products, equipment, and processes as well as supports existing operations in Carhartt’s distributionnetwork.
Supports the Distribution and Logistics group by assisting with technical issues that may be addressed though either engineering methods or application of technology.
Manages the Engineering and Training Departments including hiring, workforce planning, performance management, mentoring and coaching of associates.
Responsible for creating and managing department operating and capital budgets.
Manages the capital project budget process for the DistributionEngineering group. This includes but not limited to maintaining the opportunities list, quote verification, benefit & NPV analysis, alignment with operations and others on priority (via CISC), coordinating with Project Management Office or others on scheduling, project closure.
Identifies and evaluates opportunities and implements improvements to distribution and logistics processes including automated operations at Carhartt’s high volume distribution center.
Manage any technical or efficiency issues with all facility engineers/technicians or facility managers such as quality issues, capacity issues, plant layout, ergonomic challenges, etc.
Supports Carhartt’s personalization initiative by providing costing and technical support as required.
Supervises development and administration of distribution center incentive rates and productivity standards according to established Carhartt processes.
Works with Project Management Office, other project resources, or vendors to ensure on-time and on-budget completion of projects that deliver or exceed expected results.
Works with Carhartt’s Customer Experience group on feasibility and costing of Value Added Service (VAS) requests and consults on vendor compliance issues impacting distribution and logistics operations.
Supports company initiatives as a member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team.
- Bachelor's DegreeRequired in IndustrialEngineering or Supply Chain Management
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum of 7years’ experience leading teams
Knowledge of Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS)
Adept with information technology and advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office365 applications
Knowledgeable of work measurement and use of pre-determined time systems such as GSD
Knowledge of training principles and strategic direction for internal and external education that meets professional, business and associate needs
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all levels including associates, management, senior leadership, and retail partners
Experience with incentive based systems preferred
