Reporting to the Vice President for Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Director assumes 24-hour responsibility for management of their unit(s) and allocation of resources. Management includes provision of appropriate staffing and skill mix, and sufficient equipment and supplies to meet the nursing care needs of the patient population. The Nurse Director directs the quality and continuity of patient care on their unit(s) in order to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the type and age of the population served.
The Nurse Director is responsible to the patient and the family or significant others, medical staff and hospital administration for the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care delivered.
o Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
o Masters degree in nursing or related field such as public health, healthcare administration, or business preferred.
o Minimum of five years experience in a leadership position required.
· Licensure and/or Certification
o Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts.
o BLS healthcare provider required.
o ACLS required.
o PALS required.
o Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
o Demonstrated leadership ability, financial management, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o Excellent customer service skills.
o Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
o Computer skills required (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
o Ability to maintain confidential information.
