Director of Distribution
Growing company with over 1,000 employees is looking for a Director of Distribution in Utah. Responsible to lead continuous improvement initiatives by building and maintaining the warehousing infrastructure, developing and delivering best practices, and optimizing the complex distributionnetwork.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of the position:
Manage an extremely automated distribution facility, with high-speed sortation systems.
Develop partnerships with outside shipping carriers and vendors, ensuring prompt and accurate pick-up/delivery requests for multiple transportation modes of service.
Capable of managing a myriad of SKUs.
Map and document processes and procedures in order to improve workflow and efficiency.
Teach and train teams toward continuous improvement/lean concept, identifying opportunities for improvement, and guiding change.
Understand, educate, and train teams on productivity and budgetary goals.
Recruit and select employees and develop their capabilities; plan for succession; counsel effectively and performance manage through use of established work expectation and/or productivity metrics.
Administer discipline consistent with policy and severity of event.
Provide continuous improvement to warehouse/operations to increase productivity and efficiency.
Oversee, implement, and maintain compliance with company and OSHA guidelines to create and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Collaborate with various corporate departments and leadership teams to maintain awareness of customer needs.
Bachelor?s degree in a related field from an accredited four year university is required; Master?s degree is preferred.
Ten to 15years of experience with in-depth knowledge of warehousing and distribution.
Union environment experience is preferred.
Strong technical experiencerequired with the ability to implement IT interfaces.
Ability to prepare and analyze budge and cost data, determine trends, and apply corrective actions to achieve desiredfinancial goals.
Must have strong analytical skills to determine root cause analysis and resolve operational failures and set corrective action/course.
Must be a driver of business requirements and capable of coordinating the design, build, and implementation of quality business solutions on time and to budget.
Must be a demonstrated team builder and leader, capable of keeping a team highly utilized while managing metrics, margins, costs and revenue.
Must be action oriented and demonstrate energy for things seen as challenging.
