Job Description:

We are looking for a seasoned fundraising professional to develop and implement an ambitious development strategy, with a special focus on growing our base of major donors and sustainers. We need to strengthen our financial foundation to enable us to grow, make a greater impact, and be flexible and adaptable in response to fast-changing conditions.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about our mission, a seasoned development professional with a proven track record of success, and able to effectively engage with a very diverse donor base: from corporate executives and major philanthropists, to community members giving what little they can to a cause they believe in. Strong existing connections are a big plus. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with the Director of Operations and oversee the Development Coordinator.

Job duties and responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a short and long-term development plan to raise the revenue needed to support the organization’s goals and objectives
* Develop and implement a major donor strategy and plan, including, but not limited to, identifying and cultivating prospects; donor stewardship practices for existing donors; leveraging supporters’ networks to further expand my client’s donor base; event donor programs; and management of all gift processing and donor acknowledgement
* Develop and implement campaigns to grow specific types of support, including recurring donors, corporate funders, event sponsorships, annual appeals, and family foundations
* Manage my client’s online fundraising (using the Kindful tool), including seasonal and targeted campaigns and support and encouragement of peer-to-peer fundraising
* Identify new grant opportunities, work collaboratively with the Development Coordinator and the Director of Operations to determine grant funding opportunities, and contribute to grant-writing and reporting as needed
* Work collaboratively with Director of Operations and Development Coordinator on major fundraising events, including the annual Give Liberty a Hand gala and Our Shared Table luncheon; and create and implement plan for securing corporate sponsorships
* Identify and cultivate strategic corporate and public relations and visibility opportunities (e.g. conferences, briefings for funders, and educational workshops)
* In close collaboration with the Director of Communications and other Directors, work to ensure that fundraising is seamlessly integrated into all my client’s public activities and communications
* Organize and staff the Board of Directors’ Development Committee, to strengthen Board engagement in my client’s fundraising

* Minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility in non-profit fundraising
* Proven track record of fundraising success, particularly securing major gifts, successfully managing campaigns, and engaging a community of motivated supporters
* Working knowledge of development best practices, trends and fundraising tools and technology, including donor databases, e-mail and on-line campaigns, and donor research
* Experience with grant-writing and reporting
* Knowledge of New England philanthropic and corporate community strongly preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strict attention to detail
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, and be a team player
* Excellent organizational skills, including a proven ability to manage successful projects and lead teams
* Strong interpersonal skills, with a positive, supportive, enthusiastic attitude.
