The Director of Facilities and Construction, under general direction, develops design and construction programs. Supervises and manages planning and construction of new facilities and major renovation projects. Leads and oversees capital design and construction projects in adherence with appropriate standards and policies.
Responsibilities:
30% Oversees all planning, design, and construction projects on campus to ensure university standards are followed. Liaison to System representatives for university facility. Coordinate, as needed, with City, County, and State entities on behalf of the university for facility and utility matters. Ensures that facilities are designed and built to meet user functional requirements based on the Program of Requirements, State and Federal laws, Board of Regent policies, and TAMUS regulations.
20% Guides the evolutions of design development through concept, preliminary design, and detailed design states, and coordinates presentation of designs.
10% Serves as university representative for presenting recommendations to project architect/engineer (A/E) and construction management (CM) teams. Negotiates contracts with A/E and CM.
10% Oversees and monitors scope, budget, schedule, quality control, and conformance of Programs of Requirements throughout design and construction.
10% Prepares required reports for the THECB, State Comptroller, and LBB, as well as internal reports to aid in decision making.
10% Works closely with vendor responsible for facilities to ensure quality assurance and efficiency measures in order to receive the best value for the university and the State of Texas
10% Acts as representative of Campus Operations and as a valued member of TSU as part of the A&M system and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ten years of related experience with contract management and administration, facilities management, project planning, and budget management.
