Director of Design

The Director of Design's primary responsibility is managing and positively fostering the client relationship. It starts with gaining an understanding of the way that their client's business operates to design a space that will optimize their workplace and capture the essence of their company in their corporate space. The Director of Design will flawlessly yet creatively analyze the project design scope and manage the execution of that work from start to finish. Excellent communication skills, the ability to connect on a personal level with the client, attention to detail, and a strong customer service approach are essential. We are looking for someone who embodies talent, creativity and business acumen in a down to earth way.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of interaction with the Client ? build and foster existing and new relationships
  • Manage the Design Department (about 7 total)
  • Manage the coordination of construction and MEP documents with design intent and technical quality
  • Participate in transition meeting between the construction team and the preconstruction team
  • Identify new work opportunities and inform Sales and Marketing of potential projects with current clients
  • Guide all phases of the design process
  • Prepare the design analysis and research for each project
  • Present design schemes and documents to the client
  • Work with the technical team to ensure design intent is accurately interpreted in documents
  • Perform final review of mock-ups, material and finish samples submitted by contractors
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism with customers and other project stakeholders at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional services experience in corporate interior architectural design
  • Bachelor or Architectural degree a plus
  • Experience with all phases of interior architecture and design projects, including FF and E
  • Knowledge of building codes and structures
  • Portfolio of corporate office projects in Philadelphia, current or within the last 10 to 15 years
  • Team oriented with a passion for mentoring and teaching
  • Excellent communication and management skills
  • Comfortable making presentations to clients
  • Licensed Architect or Licensed Interior designer with strong technical skills preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially excel
  • Ability to prioritize work to ensure meeting project schedules and deadlines
  • Strong design and presentation skills
  • Strong skills and experience with finish/material selection and FFE design/specification
  • Excellent planning, documentation, and detailing skills
  • Strong CAD skills. Experience with Revit a plus

This is a full-time position with benefits, including health and dental, retirement plan, vacation and paid holiday, etc. The salary is commensurate with experience.
