Director of Design and UX

Proposify is looking for a Director of Design and UX who is great at building world-class user experience teams that innovate, develop, and ship exceptional products to customers. As the Director of Design and UX, you will have a passion for building our platform that empowers tens of thousands of people to deliver winning proposals.

Reporting to the Vice President of Product, the Director of Design and UX must be a skilled manager of product designers within cross-department agile teams. As the Director of Design and UX, you will be adept at mentoring teams in the process of exploring and converging on solutions. You are an expert at product discovery processes and have the ability to mentor the team to identify opportunities and solutions. You are also skilled in a bias toward action and improve how teams communicate by defining processes, standards, best practices and new ways of showing work.

What you’ll do and love doing:

Define UX strategy and evolve our UX processes, testing methods and design system to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Embrace and continually improve Lean UX approaches to deliver the most value to customers quickly.
Develop and grow your team’s expertise in product design and user research.
Be a player/coach manager; lead and mentor while also rolling up sleeves and being hands-on with projects when needed.
Establish systems, tools and processes to streamline cross-functional product development and user research.
Influence the brand identity and set up a visual design function.
Take responsibility for the creative vision and the standard of output across the design team.
Hire, develop and inspire the design team.
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience - What we’ll love about you:

Extensive knowledge of design and prototyping tools like InVision, Sketch, and Figma and a working knowledge of how design systems can be built to accelerate customer value.
Proven ability to collaborate deeply with product and engineering partners; fluent in front-end code and CMS management..
Demonstrated ability in balancing design, execution and analysis of primary user research and user needs analysis.
Expertise in two or more user experience disciplines and a proven ability to coach and mentor the team on UX excellence (visual design, interaction design, content and research).
Experience coaching UX culture through leading initiatives on design thinking, strategy and research.
A portfolio of previous work demonstrating depth of knowledge in UX strategy, content, interaction, visual design, design thinking and team collaboration.
Extensive supervisory experience (including leadership, team-building and delegation) leading and managing a design team.
A degree in a visual or experiential design discipline or equivalent professional experience.
Strong people management and leadership skills.
