We have a very exciting opportunity for a Director of Operations to join this legacy company and be a part of turning the dial in time. Looking for the best person to spearhead transition and bring the knowledge and experiences of the past and mix with the knowledge and processes of the future to this plant. In doing this, we will create a new and exciting direction for this Dairy Group. This person will not only understand and have experience in the milk drying processes, but will be a true change agent with proven experience.
This position reports to the EVP of Operations and will have 7 direct reports.
? Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
? Assist senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
? Achieves optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
? Formulates and recommends operational policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
? Directs and monitors department managers to accomplish goals of the plan staying consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Act as a liaison between department management/subordinate levels as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
? Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies. Will ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
? Will work towards improvement results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Waste Reduction, People Development and Environmental Compliance.
? Will identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce costs. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
? Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures such as training, safety, cost reduction, work involvement, security, etc.
? Will initiate any coordination of major projects such as plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs or renovations.
? To create and maintain a culture that is results focused, metric driven, team oriented, and courteous and empowering for employees.
? Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
?10 plus years in a management position in a dairy product manufacturing facility with direct exposure to and experience with dairy equipment, production scheduling, supervision, QA; management, food safety, and SQF.
?Experience and knowledge of dairy systems; dryers, membrane systems and evaporators
? Ability to evaluate plant budgets, KPI performance, etc. and drive formal improvement planning.
? At least one capital project management experience.
? Active and impactful participation in team projects
? Demonstrated ability to work under stress.
? A Bachelor?s Degree in Business or Operational Management preferred.
? Demonstrated ability in statistical methods and process management.
? Demonstrated ability to lead small groups in achieving objectives.
? Excellent basic facilitation skills
? Excellent presentation skills ? small and large groups
? Ability to effectively lead organization and personnel, and utilize human assets in accomplishing bottom line focused objectives to improve operations and achieve and maintain customer satisfaction.
? Ability to identify, assess, and develop business development / process improvement projects and appropriate financial justification.
? Able to develop and manage the execution of Business/Tactical plans, budgets, etc. that provide guidance for and that empower plant employees.
? Able to develop personnel competencies and provide clear and concise understanding of objectives for organization.
? Capability to prepare subordinate/s for transition to position of Plant Manager or other higher level position/s in the organization.
? Ability to handle conflict and display excellent diplomacy skills in handling situations which can be disruptive to the organization?s business environment.
? Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
? Computer literate in PC based applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and other common PC based applications.
? Excellent technical understanding of Manufactured Dairy Products operations and equipment. i.e. Evaporation, membrane systems and spray drying.
? Leadership ability to develop an older plant into a well-respected lead facility.
? Ability to achieve improvement results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Waste Reduction, People Development and Environmental Compliance
The compensation package for this position is commensurate with experience and includes an attractive base salary with annual bonus incentive and a competitive benefits package.
