The Director of Construction is responsible for leading the Project Management team to ensure successful execution of all projects. The Director of Construction will work directly with the VP of each region to determine the best fit personnel wise for each project and allocate resources accordingly.
•Responsible for the management of a team of Project Managers that will be overseeing projects throughout the enterprise.
•Responsible for optimizing management resources in order to provide effective supervision of all projects.
•Coordinate timely status updates from all PMs.
•Review and approve all project contracts and purchase orders in order to ensure compliance with corporate policies.
•Work with the Pre-Construction Group to establish budgets and manage the change order process.
•Work with Project Controls Group to manage the budget, track expenses and minimizing financial exposure to the project.
•Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with the Project Management team.
•Maintain strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
•Ensure all project documentation is complete and accurate.
•Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
•Proactively identify potential risk issues and the associated order of magnitude costs.
•Directly manages multiple Project Managers.
Qualifications and Personal Skills:
A successful candidate would possess the following qualifications:
•Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent related work experience.
•At least 10 years of experience in management of projects.
•Demonstrated success in managing multitude of construction projects from small renovations to new venues and large phased renovations.
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple Project Managers
•Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
•Familiarity with construction management systems and software (preferably CMiC)
•Effective oral and written communication skills.
•Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
