The Director of Business Process Excellence responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a business excellence model for the Company, building on Bourns' long-standing culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a business excellence assessment process that enables all business areas to identify and prioritize the performance gaps that must be addressed to deliver the largest value to the Company.
- Work with the Global Quality organization and all businesses to identify meaningful leading and lagging key performance indicators that measure the value delivered by the OpEx program.
- Build OpEx organizational capability and infrastructure to improve competency across all sites.
- Develop and implement a site/business recognition program to highlight achievement of key business excellence maturity milestones.
- Lead cross-functional / cross-divisional/ global business process improvement workshops using the proper methodology (e.g. Kaizen, PDCA, LSS).
- Drive change management to promote a culture and a mindset of Operational Excellence, Quality and Continuous Improvement across all functional and business areas.
- Build, maintain, and leverage relationships in a matrix organization to identify opportunities for business process improvement, facilitate the implementation of change, and promote organizational learning.
- Develop the process and tools necessary to measure and continuously improve the experience of internal and external customers (Customer Loyalty Index, Net Promoter Score) as a means to increase the value proposition of the Bourns brand.
- Promote a mindset across all functional areas where results are judged and improved, always from a customer perspective.
- Work with Global Quality leadership to support the delivery of all objectives and key results of the Global Quality organization.
- Articulate and help visualize the business value of the OpEx activities to business and functional leaders of the Company.
- Follows Company policies, rules, procedures and goals.
- Other relevant activities as directed by the VP of Global Quality.
If you have the right experience along with the ability to work effectively with a globally distributed, multi-culture team, we want to talk with you. The right candidate should have the following training and experience:
- Must have 10+ years of progressive experience in continuous improvement, quality and/or operations in a global manufacturing environment, including a minimum of five years working in a leadership position(s) managing directly or indirectly multiple sites from an operational, quality or continuous improvement perspective.
- 5+ years' experience leading continuous improvement efforts and delivering breakthrough results in business processes or operations.
- 3+ years' experience interacting with company executives at divisional or corporate level.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality, sales, and supply chain.
- Proven experience leading at least one successful (as measured by results) business transformation by implementing operational excellence principles and using operational/business excellence models such as Malcom Baldrige, Toyota Production System, The Oliver Wight Class A Checklist for Business Excellence or Shingo.
- Proven experience in the successful use of methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, DFSS or Shainin Red X.
- Demonstrated successful performance as a change agent; ability to adapt and plan an execution to address setbacks while still delivering key desired results.
- Solid planning, organizational and project management skills with ability to multitask medium to high complexity projects and assimilate information quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence across the Company while quickly gaining respect from staff in business and operational areas.
- Demonstrated strong customer focus, ability to understand customer needs and translate into actionable organizational activities to drive continuous improvement.
- Experience with business case preparation and understanding of basic financial measures applicable to projects.
- Experience in the successful implementation, as measured by business results, of company or division-wide Customer Loyalty Index or Net Promoter Score processes will be considered a plus.
- Master Black Belt, Lean Master, Shainin Red X Master or similar advanced certifications from quality or continuous improvement organizations such as the American Society of Quality (ASQ), the Shingo Institute, SME, The Oliver Wight Class A or the Lean Enterprise Institute will be considered a plus.
- Ability to travel on average 50% of the time, internationally
The Director of Business Process Excellence must:
- Have strong analytical abilities and pay close attention to detail;

- Be able to coach and mentor personnel in the practical application of operational excellence principles across multiple functions; and
