The right candidate must have a "go for it" attitude, excellent communication skills, a strong and fresh technical background and understand the automotive telematics industry. You will be interacting with customers and partners at a functional and executive level. The Director of Business Development, Automotive will drive overall alignment between all Aeris departments and the customer. The individual will be an exceptional team player and intellectually curious, looking for cross-functional opportunities. Ideally, you will be based in either the San Jose or Southern California areas. You'll have experience working remotely with a track record of successfully gaining acceptance and being a strategic contributor despite the distance.


Responsibilities:

  • Engage automotive OEMs through the entire sales lifecycle – pre-sales, on-boarding, post-sales account management
  • Crisply identify unique selling points and key value propositions
  • Determines drivers' and OEM's needs and desires
  • Understand the competition and other global connected car offerings
  • Work directly with OEMs to manage legal issues including contracts
  • Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term sales forecasts, reports and analyses
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending meet ups, conferences, workshops, staying abreast of innovations, establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience, at least 5 years of automotive connected vehicle sales experience with OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • Bachelor degree in a business related discipline or engineering, MBA a plus
  • Experience with embedded products and hardware, OTA implementations, LTE, GSM, Wi-Fi, and working with service providers/operators and hardware vendors
  • A passion for excellent customer service
  • A desire to take charge and lead
  • A "roll up the sleeves" attitude with a startup spirit
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills
  • Team player with excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties
  • Willing to travel 50%
