Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer for Kahi Mohala, the Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for the overall leadership, development and management of psychological, social work, and ancillary therapies provided to patients within both the inpatient and outpatient services. The Director provides administrative and clinical supervision, directly or through appropriately licensed others, to the professional staff within the department.


The incumbent will assure the staff receives appropriate training and resources in order to facilitate best practice and evidenced-based treatment. The Director of Behavioral Health assures the development of departmental budgets for assigned areas that meet the goals developed by senior management, including operating revenue and expense, capital and staffing budgets. The incumbent assures that systems are in place to monitor budget variances and to adjust resource consumption as needed.


The Director of Behavioral Health assures that effective quality improvement activities are in place in their areas of responsibility to continuously improve the quality of care provided to patients and their families. Responsible for compliance to all related state, federal and Joint Commission regulations in collaboration Chief Operating Officer and other hospital leaders. On an as needed basis, provides direct patient care. Other duties may be required or assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D Required


Certifications / Licensure:

  • Licensed Psy.D or Ph.D in the State of Hawaii
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Ability to become CPI trained within 30 days


Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • At least 5-10 years of experience in the behavioral health field inclusive of at least 5 years in an inpatient facility; and a minimum of 3 years management experience
  • Experience in providing project management in multiple facilities or programs simultaneously, required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in the areas of initiating program assessment and implementing quality program evidenced based treatment and quality management programs, required.

Special Requirements:


  • Ability to work with a wide range of psychiatric treatment issues.
  • Must be able to work in collaboration and interface with interdisciplinary teams.
  • CPR Certified - American Heart Association - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider
  • Ability to become CPI trained within 30 days
