The Director of Attorney Recruiting will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As the Director of Attorney Recruiting at Latham, you will support the strategic initiatives of the firm’s Recruiting Committee with respect to the hiring of summer associates, new associates, and lateral associates for the firm’s offices in the United States. Alongside the Chair and Vice Chairs of the Recruiting Committee, the Director of Attorney Recruiting (the “Director”) provides leadership to the recruiting department and Recruiting Committee members, working closely with practice office and global team members in the Attorney Development Department to develop and implement effective recruiting efforts to ensure that the firm is successful in recruiting top legal talent. The Director will interface regularly with senior firm management, lawyers at all levels, law school career services, and others, and continually create, develop and implement effective and innovative processes and best practices for all aspects of the recruiting life cycle from pre-law pipeline programs to lateral associate hiring, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:
As a Director of Attorney Recruiting, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Director of Attorney Recruiting must have knowledge of legal employment issues, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent leadership skills necessary for effective management. The Director must be sensitive towards the needs of diverse and multicultural constituencies, and have the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm. The successful candidate will have organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines. The Director of Attorney Recruiting must will have strong project management skills, as well as the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion. The ideal candidate will have excellent computer and technical skills, including PowerPoint, Excel and database management. Knowledge of graphical designs is a plus.
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A J.D. or other advanced degree is preferred.
At least five (5) years’ recruitment management experience is required. At least ten (10) years’ recruitment experience in either a legal or professional services environment is desired.
The Director must have the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule. Regular travel is required.
