Director of Athletics, Recreation and Intramural Sports
The Penn State Hazleton campus is seeking applications for a Director of Athletics, Recreation and Intramural Sports. The campus seeks a dynamic leader with a strong commitment to athletics compliance, academics, character, diversity, and the academic and athletic experience of the student-athlete. Responsible for maintaining and strengthening a competitive athletics program, the Director must present a clear vision and strategy for the department. This position requires significant administrative responsibilities including the management of personnel, operations, budget, facilities, the recreation and intramural programs, as well as the athletic training area. The athletic director will develop and maintain a comprehensive recruitment and retention program that maintains high academic standards and supports student success. The candidate must engage in the personal, academic and athletic development of the student-athlete, embrace diversity and demonstrate inclusion. Responsible for the programs strict compliance with the Penn State University, PSUAC and USCAA regulations, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for the monitoring of athletics programs, any disclosure of wrongdoing, and creating an atmosphere of integrity. The director may serve on conference and association-wide committees when required or requested. Reporting to the Director of Student Services and Engagement, the department consists of the athletic director, assistant athletic director, athletic trainer, eight (8) intercollegiate sports with head and assistant part-time coaches. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
