ABOUT THE JOB:

The Accounting Director reports to the Operational Controller at WillScot and has significant interaction with the Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Director, Accounting and Reporting. Responsibilities include team management of the general ledger group and accounting operations group, SOX controls management, acquisition integration, purchase accounting and management of critical accounting estimates and high risk areas.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Areas of Focus:

Corporate General Ledger Team Management

  • Provide leadership and overall work plan to the generalledgerteam
    • Mentor and develop general ledger team
    • Create a team development vision and work withAssistant Controller to implement on an individual level
  • Review generalledger team structure; make recommendations on workloaddistribution,processesand efficiency within the group
    • Work with Assistant Controller to implement changes with new structures and workloads
    • Work with Assistant Controller to drive process improvements within the monthly close activities
  • Ensure team objectives are met regarding deadlines, controls, documentation, accuracy
  • Work seamlessly with the reporting team to ensure quality, efficiency and accurate results

Accounting Management

  • Complete quarterly balance sheet reviews by legal entity and complete detailed reviews of reconciliations
  • Together with Operational Controller, responsible for management of critical accounting estimates, documentation and audit
  • Together with Operational Controller, responsible for communication of critical accounting estimates, determinations and non-recurring activities to necessary corporate teams
  • Together with Operational Controller and Assistant Controller, responsible for reviewing monthly financial results, including the income statement, balance sheet, and key performance metrics
  • Assist in the adoption and implementation of new accounting pronouncements
  • Collaboration with Tax, Treasury, HR, Operations, Credit/Collections to evaluate and/or determine accounting estimates and calculations

Accounting Operations Team Management

  • Provide leadership to accounting operations team
  • Set, monitor and manage metrics and reporting for accounts payable, invoicing/billing, cash application groups
  • High collaboration with treasury team
  • Report to CFO/CAO and executive management on a periodic basis

SOX Controls Management

  • Work with internal audit and external audit to finalize SOX implementation
  • Finalize design of controls
  • Work with Operational Controller on design and implementation of controls for high risk areas
  • Work with Assistant Controller to finalize implementation and ongoing remediation efforts
  • Set up ongoing maintenance, monitoring and reporting activities related to review and controls to ensure SOX compliance
  • Report to SOX Steering Committee, CFO/CAO and Audit Committee on a periodic basis

Purchase Accounting/Acquisition Integration

  • Responsible for closingbalance sheet and openingbalance sheetactivities related to acquisitions
    • Review and implementation of key estimates and accounting policy alignment
    • Responsible for the review of all balance sheet reconciliations
  • Mapping the detail general ledgers to ensure accurate alignment
  • Together withAssistant Controller,responsible for integration of the generalledger
    • Pre-centralized integration, review offinancial results for alignment with WillScotreporting and accounting policies
      • Set up controls and reporting for corporate oversight and SOX considerations
    • During centralized integration, working with acquired company to ensure that accounts are assigned, cross trained and all entries are being captured post-general ledger integration

General

  • Cultivate team culture and develop general ledger team and accounting operations supervisors
  • Be a strong corporate accounting leader and a strong collaborator
  • Create a team, process and controls vision for the accounting department – and execute
  • Be a key liaison and communicator between accounting team, reporting team and tax team; triangulate considerations across the groups
  • Create and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments such as legal, tax, finance, HR, IT, marketing, operations, commercial
  • Create and maintain strong working relationships with external providers, including auditors and consultants

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 12years of accounting management levelexperiencerequired
    • Public company and big 4 experience a plus
  • CPA certification required
  • Proficient using Microsoft Suite, ERPs, consolidation tools (experience with HFM is a plus) and other ad hoc systems used in the accounting process
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute in a fast-paced, acquisitive, growth company
