Now we’re looking for a rock star external PR and media relations leader to help us continue evangelizing the Un-carrier brand in partnership with the Government Affairs team in Washington, D.C.

Your number one priority will be to turn up the dial on getting the word out about T-Mobile’s Un-Carrier strategy, specifically focused on amplifying Government Affairs and policy priorities, in the Beltway. You’ll extend our reach where appropriate to regional and local media, too. You’ll be a savvy communications strategist who is adept at partnering with internal and external resources to learn from them and develop kick-ass external communications and media plans that will amplify T-Mobile Government Affairs priorities and other related news. As you partner with the T-Mobile GA team, you’ll consistently serve up a fresh approach and new ways to reach key audiences and you won’t be afraid to bring new ideas to the table. You’ll lean on your existing cadre of rock solid media relationships – and create new ones – to effectively penetrate Beltway and other key regional and local media markets with the T-Mobile Government Affairs narrative. You’ll also be an asset for the Bellevue-based Media Relations team on other projects, as needed.

Essentially, you should be a multi-talented candidate and natural collaborator with a hunger to learn and an unquenchable desire to compete while doing great, memorable, epicly awesome things. You’ll own media strategy and amplification strategy, based on Government Affairs and Public Affairs priorities.



Specifically, this role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Partner with Government Affairs (GA) team to understand key priorities and develop external communications strategies that support and amplify those priorities and, more broadly, the T-Mobile Un-Carrier brand
  • Own, create and cultivate regional and national media relationships inside the Beltway and in regional and local markets where needed
  • Identify and develop strategies to amplify narratives for T-Mobile business initiatives and focuses, in partnership with internal and external resources
  • Cultivate opportunities to amplify the profile of company senior leadership
  • Monitor and analyze national Beltway media coverage and provide regular reporting to Bellevue-based Media Relations team on tone and content
  • Work closely with Bellevue-based Media Relations team, in coordination with GA, to respond to media requests and support reactive requests as needed
  • Partner with D.C.-based Government Affairs team to understand and strategize support for their media and public relations focused external communications needs, including for state-based GA initiatives
  • Create and execute new ways to connect with key media influencers
  • Contribute to messaging with top notch content, writing and editing
  • Assist in the execution of PR events and media relations activities
  • Jump in on projects where the team needs additional support without needing weeks to get up to speed
  • Partner with agency resources



While the quality and accomplishments of a person’s career will be the determining factor, the finalist must have the following requisite qualifications:

  • 10-15+ years’ experience working at a PR/marketing agency or corporate comms/PR team
  • Strong Beltway media and influencer connections and experience
  • Depth of experience working with media
  • Understanding of consumer technology and wireless technologies
  • Depth of experience in D.C. environment GA and industry/government players and process
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to partner across the company and work with different teams
  • Understanding of social media’s impact on media relations and familiarity with developing social media content
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Strong writing and editing skills – attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
