Who are we looking for today?

The Partnership is looking for an ambitious, results driven, top tier Director of Marketing and Communications to oversee successful communications and marketing for our membership and events team, along with our public policy division and executive leadership.

What you will do:

Responsible for developing and executing marketing and communications strategies designed to enhance the positioning of the Greater Houston Partnership’s brand, program offerings, projects and initiatives across several divisions including Member Engagement, Public Policy, and Executive along with the Partnership’s affiliate organization, Center for Houston’s Future. 

Primary Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, the director will:

  • Oversee the development of strategic marketing and communications campaigns across several divisions of the Partnership (Member Engagement, Public Policy and Executive) to increase awareness of the organization and our programming/initiatives; elevate the organization’s reputation throughout the 11-county regions
  • Lead the development of strategic marketing campaigns to drive membership, event (tickets and sponsorship) and special campaign revenues
  • Develop comprehensive marketing campaigns to include e-mail, Web, social media, advertising, direct mail, radio, television, and other media to advance the work of the organization. Oversee the executions of deliverables for respective divisions 
  • Partner with the Digital, Content and Creative team to coordinate the planning and creation of content marketing initiatives to drive traffic, engagement and leads, that positively-position the work of the organization across divisions to drive revenues and awareness
  • Create the strategy and work with the Digital, Content and Creative team to develop and execute all member communications including monthly newsletter, event invitations/reminders, etc. 
  • Actively develop digital marketing and communications campaigns to include support and advance our efforts in promoting GHP initiatives, departments and its brand, in collaboration with our Digital Content and Creative team
  • Work with all divisions to ensure that specific marketing campaigns support/complement current and future division goals
  • Maintain branding and messaging consistent with Partnership brand guidelines. Co-partner with Director of Marcom, Economic Development to ensure consistent practices across the organization 
  • Support the marketing and communications activities of the Partnership’s affiliate organization, Center for Houston’s Future
  • Manage the marketing budget to get desired end within set cost parameters
  • Track success metrics for all promotions
  • Work with applicable outside vendors to negotiate pricing, timing and quality of deliverables
  • Guides all deliverables through the organization’s routing/review process
  • Effectively interface with internal and/or external graphic designers, digital media specialists, and project teams
  • Work with confidential matters
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Executive Communications 

  • Lead the development of all executive communications pieces including speeches, remarks, emails, letters and presentations for CEO, Board Chair, board members 
  • Manage the development of the materials and remarks for board and executive committee meetings in conjunction with the CEO and SVP, Marketing & Communications along with the board coordinator
  • Work with confidential matters
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Leading Others

  • Effectively identify and develop talent, advancing high performers. Assist team members in their development as individuals and professionals
  • Partner with the SVP to goals and direction of the department and maintain budget parameters for the team
  • Direct the activities of the team as described above, setting priorities and delegating responsibility to staff
  • Set performance metrics that drive team’s success
  • Deliver and participate in formal and informal performance reviews for direct reports and indirect reports
  • Work with confidential matters

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written communications skills required; composition, writing, grammar, and spelling.
  • Experience in project management; ability to work in a high-volume communications environment with tight deadlines and fast turnarounds.
  • Possess a proven track record which demonstrates public relations and business-to-business marketing skills.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the local and global economy, the private sector business community and government at local, state and federal levels.
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Preference for working with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize simultaneous assignments.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Advanced level proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications

Experience Requirements

7+ years’ experience in Marketing, PR, Communications or related field required
