The Director, Market Intelligence, is responsible for market intelligence analysis using best practice methodology and models to meet the schedule of proposition reviews for each market.


Responsible for managing a small team of Market Intelligence analysts, collaborating with other Product Marketing functions and regional marketing teams, the Director, Market Intelligence role supports Proposition owners by providing positioning recommendations to help create world beating propositions for Rakuten Marketing.


With expertise in building analysis methodologies and models for market and product analysis, as well as using the results to recommend positioning and pricing, the market intelligence function is central to creating the best possible propositions for Rakuten Marketing


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Able to present Market intelligence recommendations to stakeholders
  • Precise product knowledge and application to analysis results
  • Ownership of standards, best in class analysis models and methodologies
  • Ownership of proposition analysis schedule
  • Develop key metrics to drive results in the business and exceed customer expectations for quality and turnaround time
  • Inspirational leadership and management of analyst team, with progression planning and skills development
  • Train analysts in their primary duties ensuring their ability to effectively complete deliverables
  • Develop required skills and competencies to master current roles as well as strive towards their next developmental goal.
  • Develop various activities to support the growth of the group including:
    • Development of appropriate documentation regarding analytic approaches, metric definitions, etc.


Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in high-growth, performance-focused environments
  • Deep knowledge of market intelligence
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with executive-level stakeholders to drive change across multiple time zones
  • Effective communication skills ensuring confidence with all stakeholders, specifically Senior Leadership
  • Ability to present the most complex Market intelligence recommendations to stakeholders
  • Strong relationship builder whilst providing inspirational leadership to all employees
  • Ownership of standard best in class analysis models and methodologies
  • Ownership of proposition analysis schedule
  • Ability to connect easily and influence across all levels in the organisation.
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly, while maintaining a high degree of organisation and control
  • Strong skills in data analysis and interpretation
  • Outstanding negotiation and presentation skills
  • Hands-on approach with can-do attitude; problem solving; resourceful; ensure constructive accountability for actions; decisive
  • Proven adaptability, whilst managing change within a company
