Under the direction of the vice president, prepare, implement, and evaluate a plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major philanthropic gifts.
Lead major gift strategy, manage moves and coordinate interactions among faculty and staff across the college, ensuring the relationships are collaborative, efficient and achieve the desired outcomes.
Actively maintain a portfolio of 100 – 125 individual and corporate major gift donors, and prospective estate plans. Conduct a minimum of 15 face-to-face visits per month.
Prepare college leaders for their involvement in the cultivation and solicitation of key individual and corporate partners.
Collaborate closely with academic department chairs, provost, faculty and staff to learn funding priorities, accomplish fundraising goals, and develop and execute college or department specific strategies that will engage corporate and individual partners.
Craft messages, strategies and tactics that showcase college priorities, strengths and expertise.
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni and corporate contacts, locally, regionally, and nationally; maintain regular communication.
Facilitate mutually benefitting partnerships within the corporate community, while assisting in the development of strategies to increase enrollment, stronger engagement, and philanthropic support.
Bachelor's degree required.
A minimum of six years of development/advancement experience to include a track record of securing major gifts OR equivalent business development experience with presence and ability to interface with corporate executives.
High energy individual with exceptional relationship building, networking, and influencing skills required.
Knowledge of southeastern Michigan market and comprehensive connections to the business community preferred.
Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills required.
Ability to interpret and utilize data appropriately.
Must possess initiative and the ability to work independently while giving equal attention to promoting and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Ability to complete and manage multiple tasks with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
Experience in higher education a plus.
Ability to maintain confidential information required.
Fundraising certification a plus.
Basic Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint skills.
Ability to travel overnight on occasion; evening and weekend hours, as needed
