Overall Purpose

The Director, Knee Marketing will work in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, global commercial teams, clinical, regulatory, research and development teams in order to ensure long term growth goals are met. She/He will oversee the development of the go-to-market strategies and initiatives to support MicroPort Orthopedics growth strategies across the US and OUS regions. Must work closely with Sales and Functional Leadership to understand market trends, customer perspectives, competitor activities and industry dynamics to develop strategic segment plans and tactics necessary to drive our business forward.

Must be able to identify unmet customer needs and new business opportunities and provide vision and focus to move products from an idea to commercialization. A high degree of initiative, leadership skills, urgency, analytical and problem solving skills, decision making ability, and aptitude for personnel management are required. She/He will utilize expertise to provide extensive coaching and career development to team members to build a high performing, engaged and motivated team.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead the upstream commercial assessment and lifecycle management for MicroPort Orthopedics' product portfolio while supporting downstream commercial execution of marketing tactics
  • Partner with R&D and Sales Leadership to outline portfolio needs and develop the new product development pipeline, including managing/developing the business case for each new product development
  • Collaborates and assures alignment with other functional areas including: R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Sales Leadership and Medical/Sales Education
  • Prepares and executes detailed product commercialization plans including positioning, targeting, selling tactics and collaterals, clinical evidence, economic value proposition, forecasting, pricing, sales training and medical education.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget ensuring that expenses are in-line with approved amount
  • Provide product expertise to the regional sales and marketing organizations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clinicians and thought leaders in the industry
  • Work comprehensively with Medical Education to ensure that products are properly supported with educational events and programs
  • Provides leadership to the marketing staff resulting in achievement of organizational objectives and strengthening of team talent.

Skills Requirements


The Director, Knee Marketing must deal on a daily basis with abstract and conceptual problems. A high degree of initiative, interpersonal skills, sense of urgency, and analytical skills are required. The Director, Knee Marketing is expected to identify customer needs based upon routine field work, prior experiences, input from colleagues, and analysis of market trends and reports. This knowledge must be clearly reflected back into the business to guide key processes and priorities. In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, the Director, Knee Marketing is expected to formulate a yearly plan capturing the needs of the customers and the sales force while managing a team of direct reports.

Compliance

The Director must follow all internal processes related to HCP consultant interaction, and may be called upon to assist in, and verify, HCP consultant services per the processes. This position may be called upon to be involved with internal compliance processes such as the Service Needs Review process and the Consultant Qualification Review process. The Director must also follow all reporting guidelines for business expenses, particularly as they pertain to HCP interaction and involvement and must have an acute understanding of all MicroPort compliance guidelines and policies, and must manage all direct reports to adhere.

Accountability

A high degree of autonomy and initiative are required. While the Director, Knee Marketing works closely with other marketing personnel and cross-functionally across the organization, she/he is responsible to meet/exceed their annual goals and support the broader objectives of the organization.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of successful marketing and product management experience in knee marketing; 10+ years preferred
  • Implant knowledge is preferred along with demonstrated progressive levels of accomplishment.
  • Sales experience is an added benefit.

Education Requirements

Bachelors degree in business, science or engineering; Masters degree strongly preferred
