The Director of Innovation and Development leads the development and execution of innovation and business development strategy for KPWA, and in support of the region's Strategic Plan. Sponsors large scale, cross-divisional innovation projects and initiatives as lead business owner. Oversees business unit work plan by managing Health Care Business Consultants and other innovation resources as direct reports. This role is accountable for meeting goals and deliverables in the innovation plan and pipeline, including delivering return and value to KPWA via development of new services and products. This role also is key contributor to design of innovation and business development processes, informing the Vice President and Medical Director of Innovation of Development, and establishing external relationships on behalf of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington.
MANAGES TEAM AND RESOURCES: Draws upon operational, clinical and business expertise from across KP. Manages an investment budget to bring new services to the market. Manages innovation team members as direct reports. Delegates work to project team members as appropriate. Effectively directs, coaches, motivates, and evaluate team members.
IMPLEMENTATION and EVALUATION: Advances innovation projects from inception to intake in to the delivery system, improving cost, quality and experience of our operations. Designs and manages pilots of new services to test viability and market demand. Integrates or exports innovations and improvements in to Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington operations, other channels and/or within the network.
INNOVATION STRATEGY & EXECUTION: Leads strategy and execution of innovation and development pipeline for the delivery system. Introduces opportunities in to innovation project pipeline, as approved by Vice President and Medical Director of Innovation, Development and Business Services. Applies existing developments in the national health care market to opportunities within KPWA's local market or business model.
SOLUTION DEFINTION AND DESIGN: Invites and invents new ideas, developing business case and testing in the market or internal operations. Oversees collection of customer insights, data analysis and synthesis to support design of new care services and products.
PARTNER DEVELOPMENT: Proactively identifies and approaches internal and external potential partners, and fosters business relationships and generation of joint projects. Manages vendor contracts and relationships for innovation projects.
Minimum eight (8) years of combined relevant experience in management consulting, finance and/or health care provider industry.
Master's degree OR a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.
License, Certification, Registration
Strong understanding of health system profitability drivers and decision making.

Knowledge of computer operations and programs, demonstrated proficiency with Excel.
Ten (10) or more years combined relevant experience in management consulting, finance and/or health care provider industry.
Master's degree in business administration from a top-tier program.
