The Role

The Honest Company is seeking a Director, Information Technology to lead the development and implementation of IT initiatives that support the mission and growth of The Honest Company. We are seeking a strategic, supportive IT professional that has successfully managed an IT organization in a hyper-growth consumer products company. If you have a passion for delivering outstanding customer service, mentoring team members, and providing innovative solutions to complex technology problems, we’re looking for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee IT Helpdesk, infrastructure, security, telephony, IT projects, software licensing, and hardware assets
  • Establish and build relationships with partners/vendors in conjunction with corporate leadership
  • Oversee all IT-related purchasing and work with Accounting to manage department budget
  • Oversee capacity planning and scheduling vendor negotiations related to IT needs
  • Manage IT staffing and budgeting projections company wide
  • Serve as a manager, mentor, and coach to the IT team, and motivating IT team members to achieve results
  • Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas
  • Communicate effectively with internal clients to identify needs, evaluate business solutions and strategies, and ensure the delivery of superior solutions
  • Reinforce a customer service oriented approach throughout practices on internal initiatives and increase internal client satisfaction
  • Continuously design, develop, monitor and improve infrastructure and application performance, security, compliance, and availability
  • Advise the CIO and business executives on the future technology needs, trends, and practices creating business cases and analysis of the associated capital expenditures/investments required to meet company’s long-term goals

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of full-time work experience in an IT environment
  • 5+ years of experience managing an IT department
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of enterprise architecture in infrastructure, application, and data
  • Experience in managing both PC and Mac environments
  • Hands on experience of Windows and Unix operating systems, active directory, security, and single sign-on
  • Hands on experience designing and managing reliable LAN and WAN infrastructure (including switching, routing, firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, MPLS), telephony solutions, cloud (AWS) and hybrid operations and database systems
  • Strong knowledge of current and trending security practices, regulations and technologies
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Extraordinary attention to detail along with the ability to think big-picture strategy
