The Hartford is seeking a Director, ICON Product Management, to bring proven execution experience in front-end acquisition platforms. The Director, ICON Product Management, will partner with cross-functional teams to execute the Small Commercial ICON strategy, roadmap, requirements and targeted metrics while ensuring the successful implementation of capabilities. S/he will have deep subject matter expertise in the ICON platform with regard to digital capabilities and be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the Small Commercial business and the role of digital as both enabler and differentiator. This role will ensure the roadmap is delivered in a cost-effective manner and will report to the AVP, Strategic Initiatives in the Small Commercial Transformation Office. S/he will lead a small team responsible for bringing new and exciting ICON capabilities to market. This role is based in our Hartford, CT, Home Office.


  • Execution of ICON platform capability build
  • Maintenance prioritization
  • Provide input into the overall platform strategic agenda and prioritization
  • Responsible for the user experience platform including technologies, product features, process changes, etc. to improve results
  • Lead a small team of professionals supporting existing and new capabilities and experiences and outcomes
  • Create consistent, measurable improvement (cost-benefit analysis) in the performance of ICON platform including assets and processes and customer engagement
  • Synthesize analytical insights, competitive research and testing results to inform key opportunities, recommendations and next priorities
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and projects oriented towards improving critical business capabilities
  • Assist in the onboarding and coordination of new partner quoting integrations


  • Minimum eight years of experience managing and optimizing digital commerce applications, websites and customer experiences
  • Demonstrated experience leading and executing complex programs/projects to successful outcomes
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. Proven track record of successfully managing others as well as working effectively in a project team
  • Experience with and knowledge of agile and research oriented experience design
  • Ability to lead the development of business requirements and translate broader business needs into solutions that deliver optimal experiences
  • Proven history of driving/informing research, usability and analytics strategies to support measured outcomes and agenda evolution an advancement
  • In depth experience with digital analytics and performance monitoring tools
  • Experience with adopting and implementing digital standards and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to understand, translate, and communicate complex technical issues to all stakeholders, including those who do not have a technical/digital background
  • Self-motivated, able to turn ambiguity into alignment and action; able to handle multiple high priority demands
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a matrixed organization; ability to guide, influence and navigate effectively with different constituencies in achieving company goals
  • College degree required; an MBA or advanced degree equivalent is a plus
  • Prior P&C insurance industry experience / demonstrated knowledge of insurance processes, stakeholders is a plus
