Director, Human Resources
The Director, HR leads the Human Resources function at the Elkton Plant and is responsible for the delivery of all HR services, programs and practices; including Organization Development, Workforce Planning, Talent Acquisition, Associate Relations, Performance Management, Compensation, and Training and Leadership development. The Director, HR also provides project management support to broader Human Resources initiatives across TMC and TAH. The Director, HR is also responsible for the Elkton HR staff including goal setting, performance management and coaching and development. They will also act in a consultative manner when working with associates, managers and executives within Elkton as well as externally with candidates, vendors and community organizations.
1. Lead the HR function within Elkton to include management of direct staff and effectively engaging with SMEs within the broader TAH HR organization. 2. Work with senior leadership to develop organizational plans and strategies which build structure, skills, systems and culture. 3. Partner with organizational leadership to enhance associate productivity by enabling a positive work experience and an increased level of engagement. 4. Work with HR and management teams to address and resolve associate relations issues. Develop action plans to facilitate an open and positive work culture. Offer possible resolution and provide work-related advice, guidance and direction to resolve associate issues. Work with managers to bring policy and performance issues to resolution. Administer and update, as appropriate, policies that affect associates. 5. Influence the organization to change and innovate to advance the business. Work closely with leadership to deliver solutions that meet business needs. Drive and sustain change initiatives to improve performance. 6. Develop strong working relationship with Talent Acquisition team to facilitate recruiting processes for external candidates and internal placement process for internal candidates. 7. Ensure proper onboarding, orientation, and initial training. 8. Provide leadership to the organization on the performance review and compensation processes. Conduct mid-year and year-end performance calibration sessions. Design and deploy enhancements to the performance management process. 9. Support senior leadership with the design and administration of non-cash and local cash recognition programs. 10. Ensure all personnel files, benefit enrollments and other administrative work is accomplished effectively and efficiently. 11. Ensure organization charts and job descriptions are accurate and future positions are budgeted and funded. 12. In conjunction with Compensation, facilitate market pricing for individual positions following compensation guidelines. 13. Support Associates with benefits enrollment and with personal vendor service issues. 14. Strong foundation in Quality System Requirements; including but not limited to compliance with HR procedures and training requirements for new and continuing associates, Understanding includes both Federal and applicable international requirements as outlined in the Quality system procedures. 15. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Working Conditions: This position may require occasional travel with overnight stays.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Ability to deliver results accurately and with a high sense of urgency.
Deep knowledge of HR systems, processes and state of the art thinking on HR issues.
Requires independent judgment to assess, solve, improve or recommend changes to problems affecting Associate Relations and Human Resource issues within management and corporate policy guidelines.
Possesses strong organizational, project management and analytical skills.
Ability to manage up and down the organization in order to ensure consistency and compliance with HR policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization.
Flexible, adaptable and resilient
Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred, in business, HR or social sciences coupled with a minimum of ten years progressive Human Resource Generalist/Manager experience.
Must have plant-level HR experience in the areas of Recruitment, Associate Relations, Performance Management, Leadership and employee development.
Working in a regulated industry a plus
Prior experience in a start-up or early stage business is preferred.
Requires a strong knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and statutes.
