The Director, Global Payroll is a key member of the HR team and is responsible for the company’s global payroll strategy. This role will be responsible for building and enabling the team to improve business performance and operational effectiveness and efficiency. This leader will lead an international payroll team, monitor and support payroll processing for all current and future international locations. Currently the company has more than 24,000 team members world-wide. This leader will ensure that payroll is run accurately, timely, efficiently and in compliance with all country, federal, state, local payroll and regulatory requirements. This leader will also direct and coordinate the implementation and administration of payroll policies, procedures and regulations and the approval of all masterpayroll calendars and processing schedules.
This role also works closely with the Business and HR Leadership team, as the team embarks on a Business Transformation. In addition this leader will collaborate with Corporate Finance and Internal Audit teams to ensure all financial, SOX controls and reporting are correct, as well as helping to interpret payroll results. Finally, this leader will work with procurement to maximize global payroll relationships.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Develops Payroll strategy and collaborates with HR Leadership team, procurement, finance and audit. Meets with business leaders to understand, develop and deliver best in class payroll strategies, policies and procedures to add value and insight to the business. Work with payroll providers and vendors globally to ensure that they are delivering on their services and commitments. Develops payroll integration strategies for acquisitions and in geographies that have not yet adopted global payroll.
Owns the entire payroll process from start to finish, ensuring timely and accurate processing, delivery and reconciliation of all payrolls in North America, and for a portion of the population in the UK/Ireland (this will change as more geographies are brought under global payroll umbrella) . Directs and oversees the team’s production of all weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and special compensationpayroll runs. Reviews and performs all necessary approvals and troubleshoots problems. Oversees and participates in pre- and post-payrollauditing procedures and troubleshoots anomalies. Owns the relationship with our international outsourced payroll platform provider and ensures excellent payroll service.
Oversees and participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of all payroll policies, objectives, short- and long-term planning. Develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals. Collaborates with the Total Rewards team and others to coordinate the planning, implementation and administration of programs to develop, adjust, and/or enhance payroll systems and procedures due to changes in tax laws, regulations, and Company pay policies/compensation initiatives.
Oversees tax and regulatory reporting, quarter end and year end payroll activities, including wage and hour laws, unemployment, and all otherrequired submissions. Plans and coordinates the production and distribution of all employee tax statements and notifications (e.g., W-2s) as required by law. Manages special projects as needed.
Ensure timely and high value customer service to employees, including developing and adhering to established SLAs and ensuring research and responses are thorough.
Directs staff engaged in the above activities (including providing coaching and training, setting goals, evaluating performance, and planning staff assignments and development.
