Position Description:
Global Media Distribution manages relationships with the NBA's domestic and international television and digital media partners. The group leads the distribution of NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and USA Basketball games and programming content in more than 200 countries and territories. The content is circulated in more than 40 different languages, reaching millions of households worldwide.

The Director of Global Media Distribution will play a leading role in the distribution and monetization of the NBA's international programming portfolio across media platforms with a focus on digital. This individual will work in conjunction with the Global Media Distribution leadership team in New York and in the regional offices to prospect, negotiate and close distribution agreements. This position requires a seasoned media executive that will play a key role in determining the distribution strategy for the department and the tactical approach to be employed within International new business and renewal negotiations

Major Responsibilities:
• Identify and/or support negotiations and monetization of strategic partnerships with global media companies for distribution of NBA content
• Work with regional offices to develop market growth strategies, find new ways to monetize content and customers both directly from fans globally, as well as from digital partners
• Conduct financial analysis and develop proposals towards negotiation of media contracts
• Prepare market analysis, strategic business objectives and revenue projections
• Help NBA's global media distribution team exceed financials and strategic goals
• Maintain market intelligence on mediatrends and sports rights globally
• Create and deliver strategic presentations to leadership inside and outside the organization

RequiredExperience & Knowledge:
• Proven track record in monetizing content through licensing negotiations and forming strategic partnerships
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to gather and analyze data from a variety of sources, draw conclusions and act on findings
• Strong presentation skills, including the ability to lead discussions that will result in the best strategic approach possible
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, heavily matrixed organization
• 7-10 years of work experience in the television and digital media industry with at least 3 years in a licensing role with prior exposure to strategy and/or consulting
• Experience in sports industry
• Ability to work with commercial agreements and a deep understanding of contracts, particularly licensing arrangements
• Understanding of digital media space and evolving trends
• Strong contacts in the international media community
• Proven ability to think strategically and analytically
• Strong understanding of financial analysis and capability of modeling
• Ability to create and make strategic and deal related presentations to management
• Knowledge and experience working with the mobile space including content distribution and social media
• Willingness to travel extensively
• Multiple language skills a plus


Educational Background Required:
• College degree
• MBA strongly preferred.
