Responsibilities:

The Director, Forecasting, is accountable for managing and developing forecasting for N.A Retail Stores, Supply Chain Distribution Centers as well as multiple sales channels. Determine optimal forecasting techniques across the network that maximizes overall forecast accuracy. Interpret company objectives and establish the strategic direction and goals for forecasting team and other aspects of the entire Office Depot Supply Chain. Accountability for the continual success of the department including articulating vision, measuring and developing talent and ensuring successful operation of teams. The Director collaborates across multiple departments including Merchandising, Store Planning, and IT to develop and implement operating strategies, plans, systems and processes.

  • Manages a team of Forecast Managers and provides leadership in the daily management and execution of the company’s supply inventory valued at approximately $1.4 billion across 20,000+ skus. Proactively manage the forecasting activities of the Forecasting team to support BSD and Retail service and in stock positions.

  • Lead continuous improvement process of forecasting processes to ensure ongoing effectiveness and efficiency, (i.e. develop and implement process and system improvements to drive at shedding transactional/lower value work through the better use of tools and systems.

  • Actively coach, develop and provide performance feedback/actions to managers, associates and support staff. Drives talent development strategies including Succession Planning, Talent Gap Analysis, and career development processes.

  • Evaluate and recap performance to influence future forecasting.

  • Review forecasting strategies that incorporate Merchandising, Store Planning, Store Operations and Supply Chain Operations to improve in stock levels, inventory turnover and logistics/retail expense.

  • Manages the team by determing KPI’s that drive overall forecasting accuracy.

Qualifications:

JDA experience required

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of ten years inventory Management, Purchasing, Merchandising, Replenishment, Logistics preferable Supply Chain experience. Previous managerial experience in inventory analysis, management and optimization

Other Information:

Ability to anticipate risks and identify contingency plans and processes to prevent disruptions when risks occur. Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions. Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results. Proficiency in retail math. Ability to create and articulate creative and competitive strategies.
