Job Title: Director for Budget, Finance and Resource Planning
Duties: The Director for The Office of Budget, Finance and Resource Planning is a professional position reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES). The individual in this position serves as the chief financial officer overseeing business affairs for the College.
The Director has major responsibility for College-wide policy related to resource planning, financial management, and budget development.
The individual participates in College administration as a member of the Dean's administrative team, along with other College and Department administrators, providing leadership and expertise in the management of College resources.
The Director provides financial leadership for the College, offering analysis and strategies to maximize utilization of resources. This includes developing and assisting with the administration of annual budgets for departments/units within the College, and administering/allocating centrally-held funds. As part of these responsibilities, coordination and cooperation with current expertise in the College is expected.
The position works closely with College/campus leadership regarding complex funding sources that support the College, and participates in the development of revenue generation and cost-reduction strategies.
The Director also advises the Dean and College leaders on matters involving College planning.
This position develops and analyzes financial reports and forecasting models to assist with the management of College resources, including the development of both short and long term planning strategies.
The position interacts with University, Campus, Federal, State and other leaders as a representative of the College, and responds to administrative requests from external groups, including legislators, agricultural commodity and other groups, and local, state and federal agencies relating to the College and its activities.
The position provides leadership and direction for staff in the Office of Budget, Finance and Resource Planning.
Required: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: Graduate degree in a related field
Required: 8 years of experience in higher education administration, finance or similar field. Demonstrated, results-orientated leadership in budget development and stewardship of financial resources. Supervisory experience. Experience with University of Illinois financial resources administrative systems, policies and organizational structure.
Preferred: Familiarity with the teaching, research, and public service mission of a land grant university. Familiarity with the organizational structure, programs, and culture that are unique to the College of ACES.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
