Role:

This Director of Technology Finance is responsible for providing fact-based financial plans, operational analysis, reporting and decision support to senior management in the Technology organization. This individual will be responsible for leading the oversight of reporting practices, including the preparation of full year plans and updates, variance reporting and other financialreporting and analysis as required. This individual will also be responsible for:


-Providing financial management and oversight on behalf of Technology Managing Directors and CIO of the Firm’s technology contract labor workforce, including monitoring workforce levels, rates paid, and vendor management/monitoring;
-Managing the Firm’s large, complex internally developed software capitalization policies, practices and activities;
-Managing the Firm’s substantial annual technology capital expenditures plan and related supporting activities, in conjunction with and support of Technology's Managing Directors and CIO;
-Managing and providing financial oversight for the firm’s software licensing and maintenance spend, including complex capitalization considerations
-Managing and maintaining the Firm’s project cost management systems
-Managing and reporting on the Firm’s technology consulting cost utilization activities and trends;
-Establishing and monitoring key financial cost management controls and techniques, including reporting of this information to Technology Managing Directors and CIO;
-Providing significant financial guidance regarding operating practices and related workforce financial implications
-Serving as the central point of contact for Technology Managing Directors and the CIO

 

The incumbent will ensure all practices are in compliance and alignment with TD Ameritrade’s guidelines and strategy. This individual will establish and communicate the vision for a high performance team within the department through effective and efficient resource management optimization, both internal and external. He/she will provide exemplary business leadership and will adhere to the Core Values of TD Ameritrade operating with the highest ethical standards.

Responsibilities:

•Coordinates with Strategic Sourcing and Planning on vendor spend strategies and financial impacts over multiple years
•Insures adequate controls and procedures are followed as expenses are committed (POs, DOA Levels, appropriate accounting recording, etc)
•Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reporting of costs incurred and planned
•Monitors and tracks spend verses initiatives and business value templates
•Insures appropriate expense alignment for business reporting and accounting legal entities
•Aligns reporting practices with those of other APR teams
•Manage, mentor, coach, and develop the Technology Finance team
•Partnering with Technology Directors, Managing Directors, and CIO on new technology initiatives and the related development of complex business case in support of those initiatives, including: social media strategies, data management and development strategies, webiste development strategies, and back office system management strategies.
•Manage and maintain the Firm’s technology cost management systems

Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or other related degree program. CPA or MBA preferred.
•7+ years related experience
•Must be visionary and strategic in approach, adopting emerging industry and financial trends
•Experience with process planning, resource management preferably within the Financial Services industry
•Must have excellent analytical skills
•Strong background with MS Office suite required
•Brokerage experience is a plus or Financial Services experience and an understanding of key business concepts
•Strong leadership, relationship building & mentoring skills with the ability and desire to drive change and issues resolution
•Excellent communication, listening and team building skills
•Experience with Hyperion or similar financial modeling tools preferred (Apptio, Adaptive, etc.)
•Ability to interface/communicate with all levels of the TD Ameritrade organization, lead and participate effectively in the cross-functional environment
•Ability to work in a fast paced environment
•Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively within specific timeframes
