Job Description

Develop and lead all strategic marketing initiatives across all Farm Services business units for members and associated customer groups. Develop new approaches to segmentation with strong focus on members which complement existing offerings for DFA's Farm Services products and services. Focused on solutions selling, member/customer engagement, and strategic market planning.

Position is based at Kansas City, KS or Syracuse, NY DFA office.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and participate in short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals for Farm Services business units, in partnership with VP, Farm Services and business unit heads
  • Function as a key player on Farm Services management team. Work with direct reports and business unit marketing managers to establish and continuously improve marketing strategy and action plans
  • Direct marketing strategies (budget, advertising, trade shows) to promote market and member awareness and name recognition in order to increase member usage of farm services product offerings in collaboration with business unit heads and marketing managers
  • Analyze current marketing strategy and tactics used within Farm Services business units work to improve on existing methods
  • Develop insights regarding effectiveness of current marketing approaches and recommend solutions to key problems related to customer engagement
  • Understand trends affecting dairy farms and how to provide new or more effective services to assist farms in responding to emerging trends
  • Assess and implement opportunities to improve marketing approaches utilizing "best in class" marketing techniques such as key message playbook, digital content, social media platforms, direct mail, website interface, and mobile applications
  • Create and monitor monthly KPIs to evaluate effectiveness of marketing tactics. Adjust techniques based on KPI results
  • Establish new relationships for effectively marketing various farm services including media service providers and other related vendors
  • Collaborate across farm services business units and milk membership field team to identify farms who may benefit from farm services and implement techniques to target these farms with specific service opportunities
  • Assist with development of Farm Services business unit annual sales and marketing plans with strong focus on marketing components of the plans
  • Interface with corporate communications team to ensure alignment with corporate brand standards and key communication efforts
  • Manage marketing spend in alignment with annual budget
  • Participate with and complete special projects as requested

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Business, Marketing or closely related field
  • MBA in related field preferred
  • 7-10 years' experiencemarketing to farmers and agri-business related companies
  • Solid understanding and experience with dairy industry players, products, services and technologies
  • Strong experience with customer engagement, solutions selling, and strategic planning
  • Certification and/or License -- Certain certifications may be required during course of employment

  • Able to build and lead a collaborative marketing team across multiple business units
  • Skilled at developing and executing growth strategies that drive business results. Able to monitor market conditions and competitors' strategies. Able to think strategically about long-term plans. Able to constantly measure progress towards objectives and make appropriate adjustments
  • Able to think outside the box and be innovation; able to demonstrate critical thinking and analysis
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to interact in a positive way with personnel within DFA and with our members/customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Familiarity with CRM software tools, especially Salesforce CRM\
  • Extensive knowledge of marketing strategy and tactics, especially those used to effectively communicate to farmers
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
