Director, Events Marketing


Our marketing team is expanding to support the accelerated growth of our company and brand. We are looking for a Director, Events Marketing to join our team and take our events strategy to the next level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative marketing team and lead key event efforts that are essential to our continued growth and success.

The Director, Events Marketing will report to the VP of Central Marketing and will be responsible for developing and executing an events strategy to support demand gen, customer retention and brand elevation campaigns.

This requires a strong partnership with various internal stakeholders such as sales, engineering, and product marketing for each event. Your responsibility will be to translate the overall strategy and messaging through the design, logistics, vendor management, budget, execution, and post-event analysis of each event. The Director will also work closely with the Human Resources team to develop dynamic employee development and reward and recognition events that inspire, recognize and motivate.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced B2B event professional with a strong background managing corporate events, industry trade shows and hosted summits across the US. He or she will be a strategic and creative thinker with a passion for driving growth and working across channels to build an impactful events program.

This position will be located in: Arlington, VA (Clarendon metro)

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Owns Hobsons' user conference, sales incentive trips, sales kick-off meetings, town halls, employee awards celebration, and industry trade shows and conferences
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders (executives, business-line and sales leaders, and product marketing team members) to establish event goals and develop the customer experience
  • Leads the event strategy and plan, site selection, program development, vendor contract negotiations, speaker management, logistics, message coordination, staffing plan, and all other aspects of event production
  • Manages the budget, planning, logistics and up-front strategy development for events
  • Works with events agencies and external vendors (e.g. conference coordinators, event services groups, hotels and restaurants)
  • Responsible for analyzing event and sponsorship potential to determine benefits for company branding and positioning
  • Ensures post-event follow up (lead hand-offs, reporting and analysis, and post-mortem documentation)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of related events marketing experience, including large-scale user conferences
  • Strong attention to detail, strong personal accountability, strong organizational skills, strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Professional demeanor with strong customer service skills and an ability to work with all levels of management, coworkers and third party vendors
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify and troubleshoot problems and follow up until a resolution is achieved
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work with a limited amount of supervision
  • Proven experience in managing and delivering on budget (with proficient Excel skills)
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of time
