  • Set strategy development, deployment, and management of the availability, usability, integrity, and security of the data employed to support the Nike business, ensuring we are meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk and cost within Consumer data
  • Obsess Nike's consumer data: what data, where is it and who is using it across all functions and geographies
  • Develop and lead teams of data governance professionals responsible for activating data governance solutions for consumer data
  • Partner closely with Privacy and Security on implementation of Consumer data compliance
  • Champion the application, usage and adoption of data governance capabilities within Consumer data including data catalog, business glossary, data discovery, data lineage, privacy & security frameworks, taxonomy & tagging and data quality
  • Own relationships with diverse business stakeholders to understand current and anticipate future business needs, understand requirements and define relevant strategic questions
  • Collaborate with senior management in developing recommendations around policies, standards and framework for data governance, and implement and maintain a data governance structure aligned to enterprise data governance
  • Establish Consumer data governance structures & operating mechanisms to continually mature Consumer data & sustain ongoing data improvement
  • Run the operating model to sustain ongoing Consumer data improvement including chairing various Consumer Data Governance meetings, identifying data owners, business and technical data stewards and maintaining strong relationships across Nike Direct, Digital, Technology & Analytics functions
  • Partner closely with Geographies to implement consistency in Data Governance strategy and approach
  • Continually focus Consumer data governance and quality priorities on the most critical Nike data assets to unlock business value
  • Engage with the industry to learn about best practices, gain insightful competitive and regulatory intelligence to help in building excellence in our governance and quality initiatives
  • Build, manage, mentor, and inspire team(s); managing performance, goals and development potential


  • Bachelor's degree in business or a technical discipline, or equivalent level of experience in a data analysis/administration, data quality, data governance, or related field.
  • One of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law + 6 yr; Masters + 7 yrs; Associates + 9 yrs; High School + 10 yrs exp
  • 8-9 years of relevant leadership experience including developing and implementing data quality and data governance standards, practices, org structures, support models, and achieving business objectives
  • Expert-level experience with data governance requirements and methods, with proven ability to work with business and analytics leaders to identify and align on workable business solutions to data quality and governance requirements and challenges
  • Experience leading or working with Data Governance and/or data solutions professionals and/or teams
  • Involvement with data and information/content strategies involving collaborative solutions, predictive analytics and BI reporting, machine learning, knowledge systems, big data and the use of diverse sources of data/content
  • Expertise in working hand-in-hand with executive stakeholders to successfully support business performance and goals while building/achieving appropriate levels of data quality
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
  • Strong track record of leading change in a complex, matrix organization
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Expert interpersonal, written and verbal skills with proven ability to educate, inform, persuade, and achieve understanding and buy-in on data quality/data governance needs across different functions, levels and customers
  • Experience working in a global business environment preferred
  • Good understanding of key topics in data governance, security and marketing science, data science, and applied analytics
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
