Job Description: 

The Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented engineering leader well versed in the design and manufacture of complex systems to join an engineering organization that designs and delivers leading edge communications products.

This leader will work in a cross-functional environment to manage a team responsible for design for cost initiatives.  The design initiatives will span technical disciplines and require a leader that can facilitate cost-benefit and performance analysis.  This engineering leader will need to work closely with production and supply chain teams during the analytics and execution phases of initiatives.  This individual will be responsible for communicating accurate cost projections over a multi-year period.

The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and a combination of technical and business acumen that enable the execution of cradle to grave analyses used to provide recommendations to the business to achieve goals.  The engineering leader is expected to possess a thorough understanding of technical challenges including both the development methods as well as enforcing organizational behaviors to ensure quality.  Additionally, this person should be comfortable challenging and refining processes to enable an efficient and effective execution of their role.

The responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrated experience driving business results across multiple functional organizations.
  • Detailed understanding and knowledge of best practices for design processes.
  • Detailed understanding of introducing designs into the production environment.
  • Ability to manage and make trade-offs between product recurring cost, budget, schedule and technical solution.
  • Manage staffing allocations against defined engineering resource demands.
  • Project planning, including cost, schedule, and resource estimates.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, ability to convey technical and business matters in a clear and logical manner.
  • Work collaboratively with test, manufacturing, logistics, product and program management and other groups, as well as, senior management as needed to define and execute projects and deliver business results.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 15 years of prior related management experience leading product development organizations (or 13 years of management experience with a MSdegree).

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • DOD Secret clearance / ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Highly motivated, a self-starter, and able to operate with little supervision in diverse environments.
