Key Responsibilities:

As Engineering Business Line Process Owner (BLPO) of URS (integrated BL) in charge to define with the support of the Engineering Directors (System, Software, Hardware, IVVQ) for the Business line (or potentially for each Product Line or Product of the BL, based on what he thinks is the right level) the tailoring of practices and tools

As Engineering Discipline Management group lead:

  • Track the Engineering organization competitiveness key indicators related to Cost, Quality, Lead Time and attractiveness of solutions on the market, including subcontracted engineering activities. Perform root cause analysis of problems
  • Set-up and monitor with the support of the Engineering Directors the Engineering Performance Plan (to improve the above KPI) as a project (budget, resources, Performance Initiatives tracking with related KPI, milestones follow-up, etc.)
  • Organize the maturity assessment of the engineering organization in alignment with Group governance rule
  • Ensure deployment of engineering processes, practices and tools and propose tailoring for approval by the Engineering Directors (BLPO Roles)
  • Support and coach engineers on defined process, practices and tools (ie Support & Coaching organization)
  • Capitalize and share knowledge; Monitor the Capitalization loop including Cost model capitalization data
  • Set-up and monitor with the support of the Engineering Directors the organization workload and skills allocation on bids, products and projects
  • Analyze skills and set-up and monitor related development actions with each Engineering Director (recruitment, training, coaching, mobility)
  • Provide support to the corresponding Head of Quality in order to contribute to the maturity of the overall organization
  • Support Engineering Directors to set-up and monitor an Engineering Dashboard that tracks progress of the aforementioned topics for the corresponding Engineering organization

As Solution Engineering Configuration Management group lead:

  • Responsible for the implementation (tailoring, deployment, maturity, continuous improvement, TRS update) of the Configuration Management system for the project/product on URS level
  • Implementation of the Configuration Management system for the project/product.

Engineering Accountability:

  • Meet the cost, schedule and performance targets (including risk and opportunity assessment) of each Engineering Work Package allocated to his area of responsibility
  • Manage his/her Cost Center budget aspects ensuring no under recovery and no missing time sheets
  • Manage functionally staff :
  • mobilize and organize teams around a shared vision & objectives
  • define objectives and evaluate performance
  • delegate but listen and support; and make arbitration when needed
  • develop confidence and take full responsibility for team's output
  • empower teams: give feedback and develop team members skills and professional behavior
  • ensure application of HSE directive, contribute and motivate teams to limit HSE hazard and risk

Skills and Experience:

  • College or university graduate preferably with a Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in managing Engineering, Technical or Project development organization
  • Railway Industry experience (or similar) to understand the context for the job function : complex system development
  • Experience in leading transformational activities (process/practice, tools, behavior)
  • Experience of Certified System/Software/Hardware development standards (CENELEC 50128/50126, DO178)
