Director, Emergency Department
Management Recruiters of Berkeley has been retained to conduct a search for an Emergency Department Director position based in San Francisco, California. The new Emergency Department Director will have the authority and accountability to oversee and coordinate all related patient care activities throughout our client’s new and state of the art Emergency Department. They will be coordinating resources, addressing problems, and facilitating solutions within and among various hospital departments in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards and licensed scope of practice. Additionally, they will direct and supervise staff to ensure efficient workflow practices, appropriate use of resources and quality patient care. The individual who fills this position will be responsible for the 24 hour workings of the Emergency Department in support of the hospital’s mission, vision, goals and objectives.
* Valid California RN License required.
* Valid CPR Certificate issued by the American Heart Association required.
*Bachelor’s required, Master’s highly preferred.
* 3-5years of experience as an Emergency Department Director or 5 or more years as an Emergency Department Nurse Manager.
The ideal candidate has experience with the supervision of 80-100 employees, demonstrated interdisciplinary collaboration and conflict resolution skills and clinical skills, knowledge of systems, change theory, management principles and theories as applied to a health care environment, and knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards.
Our client is licensed for over 500 beds and offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services, including rehabilitation, primary and specialty care for HIV/AIDS patients, psychiatric services, and a nationally-recognized program for people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The Emergency Department is complete with 59 beds and state of the art equipment, including two in-department CT scanners. It receives 72,000 annual visits and 31% of EMS traffic in the service area. The hospital has been providing medical care to the people of San Francisco and northern San Mateo County for over 150 years. An essential part of San Francisco’s health care system, our client now serves some 100,000 patients each year and provides 20% of the city’s inpatient care. Having recently received a major infusion of capital to fund equipment and technology for its new hospital, our client is poised to enter its next exciting chapter.
