ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Responsible for the design, implementation and operation of multi-organizations data center, WAN & MAN technical architecture center, inclusive of networks, telecommunications and multi-data center design, operations and support and disaster recovery.
  • Contributes to the development of annual Capital and Operating budgets for technology.
  • Reviews hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts to capitalize on economies of scale and evolving technologies.
  • On an annual basis provides growth projections relative to network bandwidth and capacity, power, UPS, and cooling. Throughout the yearreports upon actual consumption in comparison to projected growth.
  • In conjunction with the CEO, develops long term business strategies, related project definitions, cost/benefits analysis, and makes recommendations regarding applicable infrastructure (networks, fiber optics, data center infrastructure, telecommunications, etc.).
  • Assists in resolving implementation and design issues, ensuring a reliable, useable secure, serviceable, and available computing environment. Assesses and communicates risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases.
  • Reviews projects for adherence to project plans. Provides guidance and leadership in the development of accurate test, implementation and back-out plans. Ensures that technology managers and staff have developed and are following technology policy standards and guidelines.
  • Co-creates department standards, goal setting and prioritization of work. Responsible for conducting performance and salary reviews.
  • Supervises day-to-day operations of the network and telecommunications team to ensure timely and accurate resolution of issues and ensure exceptional customer service and experiences.
  • Works with staff members as necessary to identify quality issues and assist with decision making and implementation of improvements and integrations related to technical operations.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of data center, network and telecommunication policies, procedures, best practices, and guidelines related to the services provided to multi entity clients.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Performs hands-on technical tasks as necessary to augment staff in critical areas.
  • Ensures processes, equipment, and software operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations. Participates in various committees/councils as an IS/business leader.
  • Leads, mentors, coaches, and develops high-performing technical team to include individual and team performance objectives, direction and goals, and provides coaching and counseling of staff to accomplish goals.
  • Maintains strong leadership, management and technology skills. Stays updated on best available applications and technology.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding and awareness of current trends in the areas of data center design, networking, and telecommunications through participation in related conferences, seminars and workshops.
  • Works with vendors as necessary to troubleshoot and resolve issues with infrastructure systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Business Administration or Engineering; or a Bachelor’s degree in Science with an orientation toward automation and process improvement; or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years’ successful experience in network and telecommunication services.
  • Successful computer information systems experience at a healthcare institution or an equivalent of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of and experiencesupporting Tier II data centers, including data center design, security and data center operations.
  • Knowledge with supporting hyper-connectivity, in row cooling, cabling, and racking to maximize channel performance and optimize air flow management.
  • Experience maintaining network solutions for optical transport and switching, carrier Ethernet, data broadband and MPLS networks.
  • Strong service orientation and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of current trends in computing and data center services.
  • Capacity to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Systems management, analysis and design.
  • Proven hands-on experience in the areas of networking and telecommunications management.
  • Experience maintaining a robust switching network (Ciena and Cisco preferred).
  • Ability to work with product vendors in supporting hardware and software and configuring and implementing new solutions.
  • Experience with searching out and identifying solutions to technical issues of any nature.
  • Ability to train staff and faculty members on technical applications.
  • Experience gathering and reporting relevant performance metrics to user community.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
