Functional Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Architecture team from a technical and personnel management perspective

  • Manage the creation, analysis, and review of data-related solution architectures, and ensures their integrity, security, and strategic alignment

  • Leads multiple complex or large-scale projects as assigned

  • Leads the project planning of architecture activities and provides estimates for architecture work

  • Leads the development of Future State Architectures for a given portfolio

  • Maintains a broad, deep understanding of current business applications and technical platforms in the Global Analytics and Data Services portfolio

  • Maintains a broad, deep understanding of multiple industry technologies and reference architectures

  • Leads the development of horizontal solutions for projects / programs

  • Partners with application development teams in validating and implementing proposed solutions.

  • Partner with global partners in architecture and IT to ensure that global solutions accommodate local/regional requirements, including language support and data sovereignty restrictions

  • Prepares presentations tailored for various audiences (e.g., executive management, business partners, IT partners, etc.)

  • Ensures the completion of product assessments and vendor evaluations as needed, and guides these through the approved software governance processes

  • Ensures architecture standards (reference architectures / approved technology stacks) and best practices are adhered to

  • Has ability to maintain big picture focus while working on individual solution architectures

  • Proactively keeps management informed of project status, issues, and dependencies

  • Mentor and lead the professional development of team members


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of related architecture experience

  • 3 + years of hands on experience in software engineering/development

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or engineering discipline

  • Experience directly managing technical staff

  • Demonstrated proficiency in coaching and mentorship

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication proficiency

  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiating skills

  • Experienced at effectively interacting with associates at all levels

  • Proficient at working independently with minimal supervision while consistently meeting all expectations

  • Ability to lead and/or work simultaneously on multiple large, complex  projects

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more architecture disciplines (e.g., application architecture, data architecture, infrastructure architecture, integration architecture, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience in understanding, analyzing, applying, and communicating abstract architectural concepts

  • Proficient at working within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in a large enterprise

  • Broad knowledge of web application concepts, design patterns and technologies (e.g., Single Page Applications, microservices, etc.)

  • Broad knowledge of integration technologies and patterns such REST, ETL, MFT, SOA, MQ, etc.

  • Broad knowledge of Big Data concepts, design patterns and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, data streaming, etc.)

  • Broad knowledge of API Management, API Design and API security (OAuth, Basic Auth, etc.)

  • Experience with BI, Reporting, and Analytics.

  • Experience with the architecture and design of data-centric projects (e.g., data warehouse, data lake, data marts, etc.)

  • Extensive experience with information architecture, data integration, data management, and database technologies (e.g. RDBMS, NoSQL, Mongo, Hadoop, Hortonworks, etc.)

  • Experience with cloud concepts (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, microservices, serverless) and major cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure or AWS

  • Experience with security architecture patterns and technologies (e.g., web access management, single sign on, federation, data encryption, etc.)
