Responsibilities

Under general direction of SVP of Credit Review, the successful candidate maintains and implements enhancements to the risk-based commercial loan review program; manages and performs commercial loan reviews, ensures that commercial loans adhere to general loan policy and to regulatory guidelines; prepares reports and work papers recapping discussions with unit Management, Senior Management, Credit Administration, and other units or functional areas under review to present findings and secure commitments for resolution of areas in question.

 

Responsibilities:
-Manages commercial loan reviews to ensure quality of rating adjustments, as well as other issues cited and related action plans to correct such issues. Ensures reviews are properly staffed, adequate dialogue is maintained with the business unit, and the review is completed on time.
-Reviews, analyzes and risk rates large complex Commercial lending transaction.
-Able to communicate analysis effectively both written and orally to Senior Management.
-Manages the continuous monitoring process to ensure quality of rating actions recommended, and reporting of results to management.
-Participates in various committees and working groups as directed by the department SVP.
-Completes various special projects as directed by the department SVP.
-Demonstrates expertise in the majority of the following lending disciplines: C&I, Communications & Media, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Energy, Transportation, Trade Finance, Vendor and Equipment Finance, Marine Finance and Construction Lending including comprehension of risks and market conditions. 
-Recommends enhancements to the risk-based commercial loan review program.
-Ensures that commercial loan reviews adhere to general loan policy; completes loan reviews in adherence with established commercial loan review procedures and regulatory guidelines.
-Manages the preparation of reports and work papers detailing findings and holds discussions with unit management, senior management, Credit Administration, and other units or functional areas as needed. Secures commitments for resolution for areas in question.
-Ensures that appropriate Risk Management policies, procedures, processes, and standards are incorporated into daily assignments and work flow processes and is responsible for maintaining high levels of awareness as related to the company’s Risk Management policy.
-Maintains relevant knowledge of key legal, compliance and market-risk issues involved in credit related activities. 
-Develops and trains staff, performs performance reviews in accordance with CIT's practice.
-Assists Head of Loan and Risk Review in ensuring compliance with department policies, procedures and established standards.
-Oversees teams of loan review officers to ensure independent and effective on-going monitoring of bank loans and assets.
-Partners with credit executives, business unit and field credit personnel to educate employees and proactively manage credit risk assessment on both new and existing transactions and portfolios.
-Develops and monitors management action plans to correct identified issues and weaknesses in risk management and validate that such action plans have been successfully implemented.
-Ensures compliance with company’s credit policies & procedures.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills:
- Four year college degree in finance or business. MBA is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent communications skills and an ability to communicate effectively with senior management as well as line credit officers.
- Strong management skills with demonstrated ability to motivate teams to perform at high levels.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent credit skills with regulatory experiencepreferred, however, prior line credit experience is acceptable as well.
