Responsibilities

  • Develop a thoughtful and comprehensive workplace, lease and space planning strategy based on short and long-term business needs, aligned with our Slack mission to provide a simpler, more pleasant, more productive workplace for our employees across the globe.
  • Assistance in identification, analysis and execution of real estate transactions that support the business. 
  • Provide financial and qualitative analysis of scenarios relating to the acquisition, expansion, consolidation, relocation, contraction and restructuring of Slack’s real estate interests.
  • Assist in the identification and selection of contracted project managers to develop and execute tenet improvements for Slack’s real estate interests. 
  • Meet regularly with business stakeholders to understand Slack’s real estate needs by team and by site.
  • Create annual real estate portfoliobudgets for rent and otherlease related expenses.  Provide semi-annual forecasts to reflect changes to the annual budgets.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with landlords to resolve concerns and administer leases.
  • Manage real estate lease expirations and other key leasedates and clauses.  Provide regular key portfolio metrics and performance measurements to accurately reflect portfolio performance. Develop and communicate clear business cases for the analysis, review and approval of real estate projects for stakeholders, business leaders and executives.
  • Collaborate on all capital expenditures for the construction and alterations of Slack’s office facilities, infrastructure and leased real property, including the negotiation and management of all global and domestic facilities leases.
  • Build strong relationships and partner closely across functions, with particular emphasis on Information Technology, Finance, Security, Legal and Human Resources.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years working in real estate & facilities, preferably in a fast-paced, high-tech company. Demonstrated minimum 5 years of experience in global real estate portfolio strategy and lease administration.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in commercial real estate, regulations, technologies, techniques and approaches in workplace engagement, space planning and allocation.
  • Exceptional judgment and strong interpersonal skills to be comfortable, effective and persuasive in dealing with employees, senior management and the board of directors.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence and partner with key stakeholders across the organization, and a track record of implementing organizational change by fostering collaboration and consensus building.
  • Experience in overseeing planning, design, construction bidding/leveling process, renovation projects, and vendor governance within the design and construction.
  • Extensive experience with project management of office fit out and infrastructureconstruction.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in commercial real estate, regulations, technologies, techniques and approaches in workplace engagement, space planning and allocation.
  • Complete understanding of all commercial real estate contractobligations.
