POSITION DESCRIPTION

WSP is currently seeking a Director, Corporate Real Estate and Facilities Management, to join our Workplace team, located at either our Montreal or Thornhill office.  Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Workplace Strategy this position will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance of WSP Canada’s real estate program and the related assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Optimize the real estate portfolio for WSP Canada;
  • Explore options to consolidate facilities; 
  • Establish ongoing capabilities for managing and optimizing the entire real estate portfolio;
  • Develop a comprehensive, strategic plan for long-term real estate and facilities asset optimization;
  • Monitors asset performance through financial analysis and market research;
  • Manages facilities team across Canada to ensure timely delivery of projects;
  • Manages on going facilities, repairs and maintenance;
  • Support Global Workplace Strategy;
  • Analyze real estate portfolio and liaise with operational leaders to maximize efficient use of space and cost synergies;
  • Provides recommendations on best use of assets, including upgrades, changes, decommissioning or other of Canada’s real estate portfolio;
  • Ensures recommendations that support the WSP brand and image;
  • Supports and assists in lease negotiations, existing leases and identify new opportunities/options;
  • Manages all aspects of office relocations and tenant improvements;
  • Monitor and report on established KPI’s within the business;
  • Ensures contract compliance in Canadian facilities;
  • Builds relationships with landlords, vendors, developer, trade associations, etc;
  • Leverage cross functional coalitions and teams nationally while working closely with the Strategy Analytics group to leverage data and information;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Real Estate, Finance or Business;
  • 10+ years’ experience as a Real Estate and Facilities Management Manager, or related;
  • Experience in commercial real estate an asset;
  • Experience in space optimization;
  • Knowledge of legal documents and contract management;
  • Able to review, analyze and interpret drawings;
  • Able to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders;
  • Exceptional relationship-building and client management skills;
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate and mediate inside and outside the organization;
  • Ability to communicate in French would be an asset;
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to individuals in a non-authoritative manner;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize;
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and coach by providing expertise to team members;
