This director position will support the Consumer Insights function for Estēe Lauder, Origins, Bumble & Bumble. He/she will report into the Global Consumer Insights Vice President. Together with JHH Cluster Consumer Insights Vice President, he/she will provide Consumer Insights support to various business partners, including primarily Consumer Marketing, Product Marketing, Product Development and Creative in their efforts to drive innovation & activation, to make informed business decisions, and to deliver against critical business objectives. More specifically, he/she will provide daily support to Consumer Insights Vice President on Estee Lauder, be the primary Consumer Insights contact for Origins and Bumble & Bumble. This director will not only be responsible for serving as a the “voice of the consumer” by leading customized qualitative and quantitative research (with support from supervisor) & social listening, including (but not limited to) consumer target and need gap identification, brand and product positioning assessment, brand health tracking analysis, in-moment beauty trend identification, concept and product testing and copy testing, but also champion insights into action by providing action oriented recommendations derived from profound consumer insights & trends. Besides, he/she will be comfortable utilizing and analyzing various business intelligence sources (syndicated data, market level data, custom consumer research, digital analytics, retailer customer data, and consumer trends) to help influence decisions and action planning for both global and regional strategies that drive retailsales and growth.

  • Work with Global CI brand lead to build collaborative partnerships and insights culture within brand teams

  • Work with Global CI brand lead to establish business and research learning plans

  • Provide day-to-day consumer insights and business intelligence consulting support for key global and regional brand team members

  • Provide input on global design/method, implementation and analysis approach

  • Support the day-to-day project management and operations needs across a wide variety of global research methodologies and suppliers

  • Oversee and manage global suppliers, making decisions and knowing when to bring complex issues to supervisor

  • Collaborate and partner with key regional consumer insights and corporate marketing partners

  • Collaborate with Global CI brand lead, brand teams, and other corporate partners to synthesize multiple data streams into distilled business relevant insights through the execution of presentations and ideation/work sessions

  • Work with Global CI brand lead to continue building and elevating the insights toolkit at the brand and corporate levels

  • Contribute to brand insights strategy documents

  • Global and domestic travel to support regional partners and mange the execution of key global projects


6 to 10 years work experiencerequired - candidate must have at least 5 years experience in a consumer insights role. Combination of consulting skills with experience from a leading CPG company, fashion & beauty company, or a fast-paced, highly-innovative consumer business, supporting both new business/brand development and strategic work is highly desirable. Global experience, consumer marketing background, and supplier/consulting/agency side experiences are all pluses. Must possess excellent oral and written communication & influencing skills and a proven ability to build collaborative partnerships. Effective influencing and listening skills, as well as flexibility, a strong work ethic, and being a strategic thinker are valued assets. Service orientation and results focused. Can handle a heavy workload with competing priorities. Displays sound business judgment and intelligence, attention to detail, learning agility, high energy level, etc. Both capable of thinking out of the box, while being strategic and analytical. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) is a must. Multivariate statistics (SPSS or similar data analytics tool) and ideation/moderation skills are not necessary, but are appreciated. Must be equally capable of executing both quantitative and qualitative projects. Comfortable utilizing and analyzing various business intelligence sources outside consumer related insights (syndicated data, market level data, custom consumer research, digital analytics, retailer customer data, and consumer trends).
