Position Summary

As Director, Communications Design on LEGO, you are responsible (in collaboration with agency partners) for translating strategic platforms into dynamic Owned, Earned, Shared, Paid (OESP) media campaigns designed to connect kids and their parents to the world’s most iconic toy company. Your collaborative approach will ensure best possible outcomes working closely with Partnerships Directors (across OESP Assets) as well as the Strategy Director, Client Director, the client and other specialist agencies.

Creating innovative connections that grow brands is a passion for you. You bring an expert knowledge of the US media and communications landscape and are well-versed in opportunities impacting the toy category and marketing to kids – from compliance and regulation to the next platform and biggest cultural shift coming your way. You are an experienced integrated planner, as comfortable talking clients through a digital recommendation as you are building a national broadcast plan and when it comes to managing big projects, you are a skilled and confident conductor of stakeholders of all levels. You think outside the box and have the creative ability to develop new communication ideas that allow audiences to engage, interact, and shareexperiences with others.

Working with the Cultural Insights and Analytics (CIA) and Partnerships teams, you will continuously analyze and optimize live campaigns to ensure the agility and performance of dynamic Communications Design solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Client
    • Oversee client education program around Communication Design relevant marketplace trends, particularly around kids media consumption and co-viewing
    • Present the Communications Design ideas and recommendation to the client in collaboration with Client Leadership, CIA, Strategy, and Partnerships
    • Oversee the day-to-day requirements and workflow of the client as it relates to Communications Design outputs, in consultation with Client Lead
  • Internal
    • Responsible for the Communications Design brief deployment and relevant stakeholder engagement (Paid Search, Partnerships, partner agencies, media partners)
    • Responsible for the development of the communications idea all connections will help unlock
    • Responsible for effective design of communications architecture and ecosystem delivery across OESP for your clients. Within the team, responsible for ensuring communications plans move far beyond paid, and are unified by a clear idea and communications behavior/s
    • Responsible for the quality control of campaign executions across connections in collaboration with Strategy and Partnerships 
  • Commercial
    • Responsible for implementation of Communications Design deliverables as part of client business development and growth strategy

 

  • New Business
    • Responsible for the production of best in class Communications Design outcomes on assigned pitches

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience

Work Experience:

  • 8+ years in integrated planning role in media, publisher/vendor, or communications discipline (digital, content)
  • 4+ years of experience in managing or developing staff

Skills:

  • Category or audience experience as relevant per assignment
  • Proven problem-solving ability
  • Ability to be both analytical and creative
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work successfully within a team, handling multiple projects, and meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to delegate and oversee direct reports (Manager, Communications Designer, Associate)
  • Experience with syndicated research, data and tools to design integrated media plans informed by data
  • Required PC proficiency and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience/involvement in new business planning and strong presentations skills
