Purpose:

Commercial organizations depend upon access to a diverse and complex set of Commercial data assets in order to inform business decisions across functions.  The Dir/AD of Commercial Information will be responsible for ensuring that the appropriate data sets are acquired, integrated and managed effectively to support the diverse product portfolio of AMAG as each business evolves.  This individual will play a critical role in communicating effectively at all levels of the organization regarding appropriate use of, and context for, different data sets.  The AD will work with stakeholders to build thebusiness case for investment in data assets and appropriate infrastructure to support the business needs and will serve as an advocate the importance ofa robust data management capability throughout the organization.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Educate organizational stakeholders regarding best practices in data management and implications of inadequate data management processes and practices
• Identify gaps in current data management processes and standards 
• Commercial lead for data management projects including MDM implementation
• Develop a strong understanding of the business models for each of the AMAG businesses, assess quality and timeliness of existing data sets
• Evaluate data management infrastructure and work with internal stakeholders (e.g. Analytics and IT) to identify potential gaps and build case for recommended improvements as needed
• Develop recommendations for improvements to processes, infrastructure and data assets and gain organizational alignment and buy-in for investment necessary to implement 
• Work with Analytics team and AMAG’s data vendors to develop a robust data QC process and reporting that proactively identifies potential anomalies in data sources prior to the publishing of data for reporting and analytics
• Effectively communicate with Sales teams to build confidence in the accuracy and quality of data
• Manage all existing data vendor relationships and associated contracts
• Manage budget for data management inclusive of data assets and data management infrastructure contracts
• Processing data feeds from suppliers as needed
• Identifying workload associated with data management and building case for data steward roles as needed
• Ensuring that the data management processes are well understood and documented to ensure continuity and stability

 

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing commercial data in the pharmaceutical industry 

• Experience with Master Data Management

• Strategic thinker who understands the specific impacts of inaccurate, untimely data on each business function

• Exceptionally detail oriented and process driven

• Budget management experience

• Experience negotiating data contracts with a variety of suppliers (e.g. IMS, SPP’s, Wholesalers, Payers etc)

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

• Partners exceptionally well with a wide range of colleagues and vendors, with cross-functional peers, vendor partners, a broad spectrum of career colleagues and senior leadership.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Management experience
• Experience in a Business Intelligence/Analytics capacity
• BA/BS in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Math or Technical discipline
