The Director of Clinical Operations is experienced in skilled nursing facilities clinical operations. We are looking to this leader to pro-actively build the health-care consulting practice through his/her keen understanding of Medicaid and managed care rules and regulations, survey process, process improvement, and relationship management. The Director of Clinical Operations is focused on long-term care transformation as influenced by federal and state health-care reform initiatives, strategic planning, addressing clinical issues, and excellence in operational efficiencies and practices.

This is a strategic hire to build, nurture, and expand a thriving practice for the firm. The successful candidate will have responsibilities and play a leading role in developing business and serving as an industry influencer; quarterbacking new product initiatives; participation in client engagements; team leadership; and serving as an active member of the Health Care Consulting leadership team.

The Health Care Consulting Division provides services to a wide range of health care providers, with an emphasis in post acute and long-term care services. Federal and State health care reform initiatives will have an increasing impact on the way post acute and long term care is delivered and reimbursed. As a result, we are looking for an innovator with clinical experience who can assist our post acute and long term care clients in preparing for and actively addressing key health care trends and issues such as:

  • Readying a provider for success under Value Based Payment arrangements
  • Building relationships and infrastructure to support bundled payments initiatives
  • Measuring and improving quality data
  • Improving outcomes including but not limited to hospital readmissions reduction/avoidance
  • Implement operational efficiencies
  • Establishing best practices in relation to managed care payers’
  • COP readiness
  • MDS Completion
  • Survey Readiness
  • Medical Record Techniques
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Strategies for PDPM implementation


The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, professional competency, leadership ability, personal maturity and flexibility. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of clinical and compliance areas but also specific experience and success in operational areas that relate directly to quality patient care from admissions through discharge.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Operational experience in post acute settings such as large skilled nursing facilities, multi-facility settings or nursing facility chains
  • An understanding of key health care reform initiatives;
  • Insight into the specific implications for skilled nursing facilities;
  • Demonstrated track-record operationalizing performance improvement, operational efficiencies and system transformations;
  • Ability to identify opportunities and challenges in a complex environment


  • 10 years of experience in nursing facilities
  • Registered Nurse preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in key technical areas of quality measure (5-star, NHQ1); bundled payment initiatives, case management, hospital readiness avoidance programs, and/or operational reviews
  • 5 years day-to-day leadership/management of sub-acute units or long-term units
  • Critical thinking ability to convert technical requirements into business objectives.
